5. New Business A. Medical Transcription - W.C. Sanders i. Program Suspension - Information  Redesign paperwork is required  Lull in medical industry in transcription  Occupation is not going away, just a lull  Does not affect Medical Coding

B. Nursing / Mobility Program – Marilyn Swan i. Program Closure - Information  Last students graduated in December  No new students are enrolled  Per Board of Nursing – cannot allow suspension of a program even if MnSCU does request suspension before closing a program  Will need Redesign Paperwork

E. Carpentry/AAS Degree - Marc Pilcher i. Advisory Committee Meeting Minutes / January 24, 2012 ii. AAS Degree Program Plan / Fall Semester 2012 iii. AAS Degree Program Plan / OLD iv. AAS Degree Catalog Page / OLD  Redesign of current AAS degree  Incorporated courses from Construction Field Supervision; Building Design & Energy Technology; SBM; Accounting; and LAS courses  Will include 1 credit course presented by Ryan Langemeier  All course work comes from existing program areas with two exceptions (Ryan Langemeier will be teaching two courses in AAS degree)  LAS is not required in a 32 credit diploma Motion To Approve: Bruce White Motion Seconded: Cristen Olinger / Passed Unanimously

F. Dental Assisting – Jen Dumdei i. Advisory Committee Meeting Minutes / October 12, 2011 ii. Scope & Sequence / PROPOSAL iii. Scope & Sequence / CURRENT  Program change from one year to two years  Incorporating 1 new course (DA 1825)  17 credits per semester is overwhelming for students  Adding pre-dental into first semester  Lower to 14 credits per semester  Increase credits to 52 from 51  Only 8 credits for 2nd semester of 2nd year / students do not qualify for financial aid o Students cannot take a LAS course to qualify for financial aid unless the course is required by the degree o Possibly advise students to take a required LAS course in the last semester  Limited time and space for clinicals  MnSCU paperwork Motion To Approve: Linda Anderson Motion Seconded: Jane Greathouse / Passed Unanimously Curriculum Committee Minutes February 3, 2012 Page 3

DA 1810 Dental Technology DA (1st READING)  New course  1 credit  Question on the prerequisite: ‘Basic Computer Skills,’ students need to be able to navigate between screens and between web site and dental software – possibly change wording to: must have the ability to navigate or must possess ‘basic keyboarding skills’  Start with this prerequisite and possibly require a specific computer skill in the future HOLD FOR NEXT MEETING

v. DA 1824 Chairside Dental Assisting II  Reformat, moving MN laws into 1 class  Moving from 4 credits to 3 credits  Correct title of program on CCO  Add prerequisites into description  Change wording: #9 – spelling correction of prosthodontic  #11 - spelling error  Needs institutional core competencies / external learning outcomes Motion To Approve: Johnna Horton Motion Seconded: Dan Flatgard / Passed Unanimously

G. Medical Assisting – Cristen Olinger i.
