Name: Course: Grade: 9-12 Date: Mrs. Jennifer Potter Fundamentals of Art April 18th, 2016 to Period 8 April 22nd, 2016 Big Idea(s):  The skills, techniques, elements and principles of the arts can be learned, studied, refined and practiced.  Artists use tools and resources as well as their own experiences and skills to create art. Standard(s):  9.1.12 A: Know and use the elements and principles of each art form to create works in the arts and humanities.  9.1.12B: Recognize, know, use and demonstrate a variety of appropriate arts elements and principles to produce, review and revise original works in the arts.  9.1.12E: Delineate a unifying theme through the production of a work of art that reflects skills in media processes and techniques.  9.1.12F: Analyze works of arts influenced by experiences or historical and cultural events through production, performance or exhibition.  9.1.12H: Incorporate the effective and safe use of materials, equipment and tools into the production of works in the arts at work and performance spaces.  9.2.12I: Identify, explain and analyze philosophical beliefs as they relate to works in the arts.  9.3.12A: Explain and apply the critical examination processes of works in the arts and humanities.  9.4.12A: Evaluate an individual’s philosophical statement on a work in the arts and its relationship to one’s own life based on knowledge and experience.  9.4.12C: Compare and contrast the attributes of various audiences’ environments as they influence individual aesthetic response Monday:  No School

Tuesday: Objectives:  Trace their profile silhouette onto a piece of large paper.  Outline their traced profile with a marker.  Use scissors to cut out their profile from a large white piece of paper.  Analyze and examine their personal interests  Cut out and glue down images that interested them from old magazines onto their cut out profile.  Draw images that interest them on their cut out profile.  Use markers, colored pencils and crayons to color in previously drawn images.  Create a mixed media collage in the shape of their upper silhouette that defines their personal appropriate interests and exhibits a high level of craftsmanship.  Obtain materials for and appropriately clean up their personal work areas.  Exhibit appropriate class behavior.  Demonstrate proper use of various classroom media  Circulate and give help as needed. Lesson Description:  This lesson allows students to create a piece of Art that reflects who they are. They will use a variety of Art processes such as drawing, collage, painting and various color mediums. This project will allow the student to express what interests them. Homework Given:  If student is working on advance design, students are allowed to take their projects home to work on them. Projects must come back the following day to be considered prepared for class and receive participation points.
