GALERI PETRONAS was established in 1992/93 by PETRONAS, Malaysia’s national oil company, to support the development of arts in Malaysia, by providing a versatile, world-class art gallery for Malaysian and international artists to display their works. Nestled between the PETRONAS Twin Towers in Suria KLCC, Kuala Lumpur’s premier shopping destination, GALERI PETRONAS has received hundreds of thousands of visitors since its opening. With numerous local and international exhibitions, GALERI PETRONAS aims to make art accessible, enjoyable and engaging to the public and will continue to enthrall audiences with exciting exhibitions and public programs.

We are currently looking for experienced and suitably qualified candidates to fill up the following positions:

1. EXECUTIVE (1)

No. Of Vacancy : : 1 (one) Section : Exhibitions Department : GALERI PETRONAS Division : Group Strategic Communications (GSC) Location : Level 60, Tower 1, PETRONAS Twin Towers, Kuala Lumpur

Key Role The Exhibition Executive is responsible for conducting research to obtain relevant data and information required for the development and implementation of art exhibitions for GALERI PETRONAS as well as for the production of catalogues and didactics to support and document the exhibitions. He/She is also responsible for generating design concepts and overseeing the logistical arrangement and installation of exhibits off- site and at the gallery, working in close collaboration with the in-house or Guest Curators or other content specialists.

Main Responsibilities  Curatorial Research Conduct indepth curatorial research and assist the Exhibition Head in curating art exhibitions, undertaking planning and execution of the approved line-up of exhibitions and coordinating developmental meetings for each exhibition to ensure progress as per scheduled timeline

 Design Concepts and Methods of Presentation Conceptualise design concepts and develop effective methods of presentation (artworks display, backdrops, appropriate lighting level, etc), both for gallery and off-site exhibitions and ensuring the designs meet the brief, the intended target audience and the approved budget. This requires working closely with the in-house Curators or external appointed Guest Curators, the Venue & facilities team and the exhibiting artists.

 Artwork Installations and dismantling Liaise, coordinate and supervise the delivery and installation of artworks and exhibition props/paraphernalia within the agreed exhibition timeline ensuring adherence to international standards of art handling procedures (including installation, dismantling, packing, unpacking, freight forwarding, etc) and in compliance with company procurement policies and procedures. For off-site exhibitions, to design and prepare plans and coordinate and supervise exhibition booth construction ensuring contractors’ adherence to specifications, timeline and approved budget.

 Catalogue Production Liaise with creative design agencies in the production of exhibition catalogues to document the exhibition as well as any other related art literatures. Undertake editing and proof-reading to ensure accuracy of facts and information and in compliance with company’s publication guidelines.

 Art Appreciation Programs Schedule, plan and execute art appreciation programs for the public in conjunction with the GALERI exhibitions eg. Curatorial walkthroughs, Art Lectures, Meet-the-artists sessions, etc., both at the gallery or at external venues.

 Condition checks of artworks Responsible for conduct of condition checks of all artworks for display by ensuring Condition Reports are being prepared and signed off pre-exhibition (upon transfer-in) and post-exhibition (prior to packing and transfer out), as well as ensuring proper documentation procedures (loan agreements, insurance coverage, logistical arrangements) are adhered to for all loaned artworks for display at the gallery.

 Report preparations and documentations Responsible for the preparation of post exhibition reports for continuous improvement as well as other required reports (budget preparations, variance reporting, performance reports for the section) and ensure proper documentation in compliance with the company’s Records Management Policies and Guidelines (RMPG).

Key Qualifications & Experience Education:  Degree in Art History/Curatorial/Social sciences/Art Education, or its equivalent  Knowledgeable in Art Management is preferred.

Experience:  At least 3 -5 years of working experience in an art related environment  Good networking in the art fraternity  Experience in curating art exhibitions is an advantage

Competencies/Skills:  Good technical knowledge in care, handling, packing and appropriate storage conditions for artworks  Excellent graphic and design skills necessary for an effective and quality presentation and delivery of exhibitions  Good coordination skills, interacting with participating artists, in-house and external Curators and appointed exhibition contractors.  Good and positive attitude and able to work well with other teams.
