1 [4338] 1 1 Whereas, he continues to pass on his love and knowledge and skill, 2 hosting jazz workshops, showcases, and concerts, in addition to 3 wowing appreciative audiences at private functions; and 4 5 Whereas, the State of South Carolina is proud to claim Skipp 6 Pearson as a distinguished native son in recognition of his 7 extraordinary career as a teacher, professional jazz artist, and 8 mentor to other aspiring musicians of all levels. Now, therefore, 9 10 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate 11 concurring: 12 13 That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South 14 Carolina, by this resolution, join the many fans and friends of 15 Skipp Pearson of Richland County in congratulating him on his 16 selection as winner of the 2003 Elizabeth O’Neill Verner Award in 17 recognition of his consummate skill in playing the jazz saxophone 18 and sharing his mastery with others. 19 20 Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to 21 Skipp Pearson. 22 ----XX---- 23
