DOWNTOWN OAKLAND GALLERY SPOOKS ITS VISITORS WITH GRUESOME ARTWORK

The Crucible Hosts Its Last Show At Cathedral Building Location

OAKLAND, October 11, 2010 — The Crucible (www.thecrucible.org) will host its last show at the downtown Oakland historical Cathedral Building. “Delirium’s Feign,” opening on Thursday, October 21, 2010, from 6-9pm, will feature a sculpture show exhibiting the irrational, the disillusioned, the malformed, the deviant, the mutated, the daunting and the disorienting, all in preparation for All Hallows’ Eve. “Delirium’s Feign” will run through November 12th, with a special viewing during Oakland’s First Friday Art Walk on November 5th, from 6-9pm.

The Crucible has been presenting exhibitions in the historical Cathedral Building space since June 2009, when Brog Properties offered the space up to serve as a gallery until it was sold. Since the gallery opened The Crucible has exhibited eight shows, showcasing 175 Bay Area industrial artists to over 3,500 visitors.

“Delirium’s Feign” will showcase 28 art pieces by 14 different artists. Pieces range from a glass eye ball strangling a ceramic brain to an iron skull framed in wood to disturbing cast fetuses. Artists included are: Alexander Moir, Billy Hiebert, Dan Caven, Dana Rottler, Daniel Healey, Glenna Cole Allee, John Casey, Josana Kuivenhjoven, Joseph Kowalczyk, Lance Jackson, Mike Kendall, Ofra Fisher, Robert J. Stone and Steve Davis.

“It was an honor to showcase Oakland's industrial art community at such a fantastic and accessible location,” says Gallery Director Daniel Stauber.

“It has been good for the building,” says Andrew Brog, Managing Director of Brog Properties. “They are a good partner and have brought energy and vitality to the neighborhood.”

The Crucible’s Cathedral Gallery is located at the corner of Broadway and Telegraph Avenues, in downtown Oakland, and is open Monday through Friday, from 11am-2pm.
