16 (3rd) September, 2012 15 TH SUNDAY AFTER PENTECOST. Tone 6 Hieromartyr ANTHIMUS, bishop of Nicomedia and Companions (302).

2 Cor. 4, 6-15 Mt. 22, 35-46 ======TODAY’S BULLETIN IS SPONSORED in loving memory of +Zenovia Martincek by M/M Vladimir Krasnopera. VICHNAJA PAMJAT’! MEMORY ETERNAL! PROPERS:

Tropar of the Resurrection, Tone 6 The angelic powers were at Your tomb. The guards became as dead men. Mary stood by Your grave seeking Your Most Pure Body. You captured Hades, not being tempted by it. Your came to the Virgin, granting life, Lord, risen from the dead, glory to You.

Tropar of the saint, Tone 4 As you shared in the ways of the apostles and occupied their throne, you found your activity to be a passage to divine vision, O divinely inspired one. Wherefore, ordering the word of truth, you suffered for the Faith even to the shedding of your blood, O hieromartyr Anthimus. Entreat Christ God that our souls be saved.

Tropar of the church, Tone 1 In giving birth, you preserved your virginity. In falling asleep you did not forsake the world, Birth-Giver of God. You were translated to life, Mother of Life, and through your prayers you deliver our souls from death.

Glory… Kondak of the Resurrection, Tone 6 When Christ God, the Giver of Life, with His Life-Giving Hand raised all the dead from the valleys of misery, He bestowed Resurrection on the human race. He is the Saviour, the Resurrection, the Life and the God of all.

Now and ever… Bohorodychnyi, Tone 6 You called Your Mother Blessed and came of Your own free will to Your Passion. Wishing to find fallen Adam, You made Light shine from Your Cross. You said to the angels: “Rejoice with Me, for I have found the lost coin”. You ordered everything in wisdom, our God, glory to You.

Prokimen, Tone 6 Save Your people, O Lord, and bless Your inheritance. Verse: O Lord, to You will I call. O my God, be not silent unto me.

Alleluia Verses, Tone 6 He that dwells in the aid of the Most High will abide in the shelter of the God of Heaven. He will say to the Lord: my helper are You and my refuge. He is my God and I will hope in Him.

Communion Hymn Praise the Lord from the heavens, praise Him in the highest. Alleluia (3X).

****************************************************************************** URGENT APPEAL ON BEHALF OF THE PARISH COUNCIL: Dear Parishioners, This is a reminder that this year marks the 90th anniversary of the founding of our parish. We have a goal to raise funds for improvements to the church – painting has already been completed – plans are progressing to install a solea and replace the carpeting in the sanctuary with tile flooring. WE NEED YOUR GENEROUS SUPPORT through financial donations by means of the envelopes which are available in the church vestibule and hall.

The estimated cost of the project is $50,000.00. We have achieved $20,000.00 in donations to date. Many thanks to everyone’s generous donations so far… please keep it up.

IN REFERENCE TO THE ABOVE… AS YOU ALL KNOW, on the 30 September, 2012, we will celebrate our 90th anniversary with a Hierarchical Divine Liturgy, celebrated by the Ruling Archbishop, Locum-tenens and Acting Metropolitan ANTONY at 9:00 a.m. To be followed by a celebratory banquet at the formerly named Hungarian Hall, now the Sts. Peter and Paul Hall on Canal St. We had hoped to fill the hall with our parishioners and their families. So far the response has been underwhelming. We encourage everyone to respond to this invitation by purchasing tickets from Mr. John Vitushinsky by calling (610) 262-0265 or by contacting him in the church hall following Sunday’s Divine Liturgy. Thank you! CHOIR REHEARSALS for the 90 anniversary Divine Liturgy on 30 September, 2012 will be held on Tuesdays, 18th and 25th of September at 7:00 p.m.

FR. BAZYL WILL BE TRAVELING TO UKRAINE with His Grace Bishop Daniel, 17-21 September, to interview prospective seminarians for St. Sophia Seminary. In case of emergency, please call Fr. Myron Oryhon at (610) 432-2977.

NEXT SR UOL MEETING: Sunday, 23 September, 2012 at M/M Winters’ house, 5:00 p.m. Please bring a covered dish. At that time the membership dues, $20.00, will be due.

JR UOL MEETING: during coffee hour, Sunday, 23 September.

SISTERHOOD MEETING: Wednesday, 19 September at 6:00 30 p.m.

PYROHONYA: the pyrohy season is upon us. The following is the schedule for this calendar year: Thursdays: 4, 18 October, 1, 15 November. As always, we thank the volunteers in advance and ask for new participants in this most financially vital ministry in the parish.

WE THANK MR. JOHN HNATOW – OUR PARISH’ WEBMASTER for the great work he has done and continues to perform by maintaining our website: holyassumption.org. If anyone has interesting information (parish life, Holy Orthodoxy etc), please send it by email to John: [email protected]

THE SECOND COLLECTION has been designated towards the cost of installing new flooring in the church.

BUCKS-FOR-A-BAG: we ask you kindly to support our pyrohonya project by donating $15.00 to sponsor a bag of potatoes.

GIANT SUPERMARKET COUPONS: Martha Dowling has coupons for sale at $25.00, $50.00, $100.00. 5% of the profits will go to the church. All proceeds are designated for the 90th anniversary celebrations of our parish.

NORTHAMPTON FOODBANK DONATIONS: there continues to be a dire need for foodstuffs to assist our neighbors. As you know, our parish’ remit from the food bank is to contribute baby-food, but any other non-perishables will be accepted gladly. There is a cupboard for the collection of donations in the church hall.

OCMC AGAPE DONATIONS: $17.00. Thank you for your support of Orthodox missions. Your efforts are yielding great results around the world.
