Come visit Genelec at IBC Amsterdam!

At IBC 2010 in Amsterdam RAI Center from 10th to 14th September, Genelec (Stand 8.D61) will be showcasing a variety of market-leading audio products designed for broadcasting production and post-production applications. Taking centre stage will be the 8260A Active 3-way DSP loudspeaker system, the flagship product in Genelec’s award-winning range of DSP active monitors. Also on display is the much-anticipated 9000A Stereo Volume Control that can be used to control volume on all Genelec analogue system. Alongside these Genelec will be also be showing the full DSP series and a range of subwoofers equipped for surround sound production.

“We’ve taken great satisfaction from the reception the 8260A has received since its launch,” says Lars Olof Janflod, International Sales Director at Genelec. “At trade shows across the world the reaction to the product has been immensely positive and has fully repaid the commitment we made in the research and development of the product. We’ll be exhibiting the full DSP series and look forward to welcoming delegates to our stand to discuss their audio requirements and how Genelec can help them achieve excellent results.”

The new Genelec 8260A Active 3-way DSP system is a masterpiece in electro- acoustic design which combines advances in audio driver technology, integrated into a sophisticated enclosure design. Featuring breakthrough MDC™ Minimum Diffraction Coaxial Mid/High driver technology, it delivers accurate imaging and sound quality both on the acoustical axis as well as off-axis. The smooth frequency response leads to outstanding clarity and definition of the inner details of the music. The DSP signal processing manages all loudspeaker functions, such as the crossover filters, driver equalizers, driver position alignment, room response alignment, calibration, and equalization related filters, as well as distance compensating delays. Set up is simple with the Genelec Loudspeaker Manager™ (GLM™) software which manages all functions allowing the 8260A to be used together with other 8200 Series DSP monitors and 7200 Series subwoofers in the same setup. Genelec AutoCal™ automated room calibration and sound system alignment method provides consistent and accurate frequency response for a multichannel audio system in widely varying room environments.

The 8260A is housed in a die-cast aluminum Minimum Diffraction Enclosure™ (MDE™) with acoustically optimized rounded edges to prevent diffractions and yielding superb sound stage imaging. The robust enclosure is also completely immune to vibrations. Each 8260A also comes with an Iso-Pod™ (Isolation Positioner/Decoupler™) which eliminates coloration of the sound by decoupling the monitor from its mounting surface. For ideal mounting in differing environments, the 8260A includes integrated rear support points for various floor and wall stands.

The 9000A provides convenient volume control for all Genelec monitors/loudspeakers. Visually designed to appear as a miniature version of Genelec’s 5040A Active Subwoofer, the volume control input and output have 3.5- mm stereo male and female connectors to provide immediate connectivity with PCs, laptops, MP3 players and game stations.

The connecting cable on 9000A is Y-shape and splits into two x one metre cables; one for audio input, one for audio output. A converter cable will be required when used with audio equipment with RCA / XLR outputs. Suitable cables can be obtained from authorised Genelec dealers. The 9000A is available in three colors: black, silver and white.
