Most neighborhood parking is sufficient for Homes on Parade visitors. However, if your home is in a location with narrow streets or very little nearby street parking, you should consider having an alternative parking plan. Start by contacting the Public Safety Officer for the city or area to discuss parking options. You may want to post “No Parking” signs on one side of the street if you have narrow roadways. In some cases, you may need to provide “shuttle services” from nearby parking lots. If this is the case, please contact the ABA office to discuss options.
My home address is too new for most GPS mapping systems; how can I assure the directions are accurate? Online entry at ABA makes this easier as you can manually place your map “pin” in the correct location. Please provide clearly described written directions. Please check all online maps and proofing carefully to inform the ABA of any needed changes. Directional signs are provided and will assist visitors in navigating to the homes. We will check and make necessary changes to most available GPS systems. Can I provide my own exterior artwork or an image for the media package? The ABA has considered many options for artwork of homes. Because many homes are not “photo ready”, we often have challenges in cohesive displays in the advertisement of the show. If the home is not “photo-ready”, please contact ABA staff to discuss. We may accept renderings, similar homes built by same builders, or other options. What do I include in my write up? Use clear descriptive language to point out the key selling features of the home, the neighborhood and your company. You can include lifestyle benefits but not who should live there. As a member event, please do not include any company names of non-ABA members. We also suggest that you do not include names of real estate agents who represent you due to the lead time and shelf life of the publications. What do I do if we haven’t made all the decisions about our entry by the deadlines? We only require some of the entry for fields be completed for application. The final deadlines are the absolute timeframe for presenting a home in the parade. CREATIVE ARCADE: The ABA has hired Creative Arcade, a local advertising company to assist with the 2016 design, print and distribution of magazine. We are committed to the Homes on Parade magazine. A minimum 16-page, professionally designed magazine will be created. Additional pages will be considered with additional homes and advertisers.
The Arrowhead Builders Association volunteers deliver magazines to local Holiday station stores, grocery stores and participating sponsors of the tour. Distribution encompasses a very large region. We do ask you to participate in distribution of magazines.
Additional newspapers will receive a Press Release regarding the Homes on Parade and it is at the discretion of the said news teams to insert into their columns.
WEBSITES: The Arrowhead Builders Association invests in creating a special website (www.Homes OnParadeMN.com) specifically for the ABA Homes on Parade. All parameters seen above are the guidelines for submitting information for the site. We will promote linking through our home address (www.abamn.org) and through our social media platforms. Members are encouraged to link to either of the sites.
RADIO: 20/20 Hindsight promotes our Homes on Parade on WDSM 710 radio. Advertisement comes through paid timeslots and through commentary from staff and members spotlighted on the show. We will purchase additional advertisements for radio as afforded.
TELEVISION: The Arrowhead Builders Association looks to secure Sponsorships to offset the expenses incurred in advertisements. We will be looking into development of a commercial to play on select local television stations during the duration of the parade.
OTHER: Chambers of Commerce, Rotary, PWN and more: Community calendars are an inexpensive and easy way to get additional advertisements. The ABA will provide Press Releases to all media sites to secure calendar event times in local community locations.
