1. Who is the President of KSU? Dr. Lester Lefton

2. Who are the three (3) deans of the Stark Campus and how do their jobs differ? Dr. Ruth Capasso, Interim Dean oversees the entire campus, Dr. Paul Abraham, Interim Assistant Dean supervises faculty and curriculum issues, and Assistant Dean, Mary Southards oversees enrollment management.

3. Where on campus is the Academic Service Center located? What are its five service areas? In the lower level of the Campus Center. The six areas are: Testing/Tutoring, Careers & Internships, Disability Services, Student Life, and Psychological Services.

4. Where is the Student Services office on this campus? What services does Student Services provide? Main Hall room 134. Registration, Admissions, Financial Aid, Career counseling, scheduling, and Academic Advising. Students can order transcripts, pay their bills and ask general questions as well.

5. Where can you go on the Stark Campus for help with reading, note taking, test anxiety and tutoring? The Tutoring Center located in the Campus Center.

6. Name the seven colleges of KSU. Architecture and Environmental Design; Arts; Arts and Sciences; Business Administration; Communication and Information; College of Continuing Studies; Graduate School of Education, Health, and Human Services; Nursing; and Technology.

7. How many semester hours must you average to graduate in 4 years with a Baccalaureate Degree without going summers? 16 hours on average.

8. When do students apply for graduation? The fifteenth day of the preceding semester: May deadline is September, December deadline is March, and August deadline is December.

9. If you stop attending a class you decide you don’t want, what will happen? You will receive an “F” in the course which is detrimental to your grade point average and hurts your chances of receiving financial aid. Students can drop an individual course through the 10th week of the term.

10. How many hours must you take in order to be considered a full-time student? 12-18 hours.

11. Please explain the Freshman Rule for Recalculation. If you are a freshman (completed less than 30 hours) and you receive a lower letter grade (such as a “D” or “F”) in a course that begins with a “1” or “2”, you may repeat that course and use the newer grade in your grade point average. You are allowed to retake such courses as many times as you wish during your undergraduate years.

13. What cumulative grade point average is needed to maintain good academic standing? To maintain good academic standing within the University you must maintain a 2.0. If you are in a selective major good academic standing is determined by the requirements of that major.

14. If a student receives what s/he considers an unfair grade from a professor, what steps can be taken? There is an academic complaint policy outlined in the Digest of Rules and Regulations. The complaint coordinator on campus is Robert Kairis and students in this situation would be encouraged to speak with him.

15. Can a professor examine the academic and personal records of the students in his/her class? Under FERPA guidelines a faculty member can view the records on a need to know basis. This need to know basis is determined by the Registrars office for academic records. Discipline records are kept by the Office for Judicial Affairs and are confidential.

16. What grade point average has a student earned who has received the following grades for the semester? 2.875

The majors available at Stark are: Applied Communications, Business Management, English, General Studies, History, Justice Studies, Mathematics, Middle Childhood Education, Nursing, Psychology, and Technology. Students can also complete up to 3 years of course work in many KSU majors. What Associate’s Degrees are offered at the Stark Campus? Associate of Arts (AA), Associate of Science (AS), and Associate of Justice Studies (JUS). If a student follows the requirements for the Bachelor’s Degree s/he will in effect complete the requirements for an Associate Degree and merely needs to apply for graduation at approximately 62 hours.
