Tournament Rules and Important League Info:

1. The tournament round robin will follow the same rules as the Girl’s Metro High School Hockey league. The only difference is that games will be 3 x 15 minute stop time periods as per NSSAF regulations. There will be 3 min warm ups, and ties will remain a tie for the duration of the round-robin, there will be no time-outs in round robin, but will be permitted in semi- finals, Consolation and Championship, and the clock will not run despite goal differential.

Note: Teams must bring their own warm-up pucks and game-sheets.

2. After the completion of the round-robin the top two teams from each Pool will advance to the semi-finals.

GIRL’S REGIONAL TOURNAMENT TIE-BREAK At the Conclusion of Pool Play, if two or more teams are tied in points Tie-breaking format will go: a) Head to Head (won-loss record of the teams in games against each other) b) +/- Goal differential in games between the tied teams only – (goals for, less goals against) c) If still tied repeat steps but include the record of all the teams in the pool not just tied teams. d) If still tied, the higher standings will be determined on the ratio of goals for, to goals against to three (3) decimal places (goals for divided by goals against) In calculating this ratio, only the records of the teams tied against each other shall be considered. e) If still tied include the record of all teams/games in the pool not just tied teams.

3. Semi-final/Final/Consolation game tie-breaker -If tied after 3 periods: “shoot-out”. 3 players from each team alternating, one shot per shooter. If a tie still exits, sudden victory shooters alternating (1 and 1). Visitors shoot first. Only when all skaters from the team with the fewest skaters on the game sheet have participated, will a team be allowed to repeat a shooter.

4. Unsuccessful teams from Semi-finals will play Consolation game to identify 3rd seed from Capital Region. Game will be hosted by highest seeded team from regular season.

5. A 5th place team must be identified to play a qualifier if Dr. JH Gillis is the Regional Champion. The 5th place team from Capital Region will be identified as the team with the most points outside of the top-four teams playing in the semi-finals. If there are two teams tied in points at the conclusion of the round robin, they will play one game on highest seeded (from regular season standings) team’s ice.

5. Winner of semi-final 1 vs Winner of semi-final 2 Championship game will be hosted by the highest seeded team from the regular season.
