Low Fell Library Art Competition: World Book Day 2017 Competition Rules

 Imagine you are an illustrator who has been asked to design a front cover for one of a series of children’s books set in the North East of England by an author named N.E. Wordsmith.

 The books in the series are: The World Cup Comes to St James’ Park Mystery on the Metro The Ghost of Bamburgh Castle Trouble at the Great North Run How the Angel of the North Saved Christmas Tyne Bridge Terror The Lost Treasure of Durham Cathedral

 Choose the title you like best and get illustrating! The cover should include the North East landmark mentioned in the book title, the book title, the author’s name and your name as the illustrator, but apart from this the design of the cover is up to you.

 Your illustration should be A4 size. You may use pens, pencils or paints, but not a computer.

 There are three age categories. These are; Key Stage 1 (age 5-7), Lower Key Stage 2 (age 7-9) and Upper Key Stage 2 (age 9-11).

 Please write your name, age, birthday, address and telephone number on the back of your illustration.

 Please hand in your competition entry to a member of staff at the library.

 The closing date for the competition is 24 February 2017. We will announce the winners on or around World Book Day (2 March 2017).

 Everyone entering the competition will receive a certificate.

 The prizes are; a £25 book token (first prize), a £15 book token (second prize) and a £10 book token (third prize) for each age category.  The prizes will be presented at an award ceremony soon after World Book Day.
