Scholarship scheme for Indian diaspora children THE Ministry of External Affairs of India will award 150 scholarships to children, who are studying in India, of PIOs/NRIs and Indian workers in ECR countries. Parents having gross monthly income less than $4,000 can apply for the scholarships, according to a press release from the Indian Embassy in Doha. Under the scholarship scheme, the Government of India will bear 75 percent of the total Institutional Economic Cost (IEC) subject to a maximum amount of $4,000. The following institutions are covered under the scheme: NITs, IITs, Schools of Planning and Archi- tecture; ‘A’ Grade institutions accredited by NAAC and recognised by UGC; Central Universities of India; and other institutions covered under DASA Scheme.
