Machine Knit Scalloped Edge Band
T – Same as garment
CO with waste yarn a few rows and ravel cord
RC000 Attach MC yarn. Form a small hem by knitting 5 R
Pick up first row of knitting of MC stitches with double eye tool and hang into the latches of needles to form that hem
Loosen T by 1
Pull all needles clear out and close latches
K 1 R
Change back to garment T
Select every 9th needle (or however often you desire) and pull those needles all the way out to Hold
Set machine to HOLD to NOT knit those needles
Slowly knit 3 – 4 rows – checking frequently to make sure the needles on either side of the ones in hold do not pop off. Use weights on each scallop and pull those 2 side needles out just a bit to keep them from popping off
Knit a total of 6 rows unless yarn is really thick then do less – (because the yarn builds up too much on top of those needles in hold if thick)
Pull all needles to HOLD – make sure 2 needles beside each 9th pulls out without dropping stitch
Turn off HOLD setting and knit across – checking to see if all stitches knit right Knit 2 more R
Continue to follow pattern directions if making a garment
If making a band – K a few rows of waste yarn, remove weights and remove from machine
To attach band to garment:
Hang side of garment onto machine with double eye tool; push behind latches but don’t pull needles clear out – just in forward working position hang with right side facing out
Hang band into the latches with right side facing the garment
Close latches and pull through by hand – knit by hand all the way across; Bind off with a backstitch bind off
