Mrs. Glaser’s Third Grade News October 21, 2017
Dear Parents and Students,
I would like to Welcome Emma Remiker to our class! We are so happy she joined us!
I guess it is fall! One day it is 70 degrees and the next day it is 50. Time to gather up the warm clothing! Please remember to send and have your child wear layers. They can always take clothing off, but if they are cold, it is hard for them to warm up without anything to put on.
Thank you for contacting me in regards to having questions about your child’s progress reports, work, projects, grades, or/and behavior. It is good to hear from you and answer any questions you may have about your child. It is amazing how much better your child works when they know we communicate about what they are doing at home and at school. Anytime you want to know something please feel to contact me! I will be happy to share information about their progress with you!
Next week I will send home conference slips indicating your time choice and day of the week. I would like you to have your child attend the conference as I think it is important for them to hear what we have to say and what they have to say about how and what they are doing well and goals we will work on to improve for the next quarter. If you have any questions about your time, please let me know.
Please continue to work on your child’s addition and subtraction facts nightly also. Some students do not have these facts in their long term memory yet, so it is important that they continue to practice these every night for 5 to 10 minutes. We are continuing to work on multiplication and division facts and this week we focused on 4s. Please make sure they are keeping up with these as next week is 6s. They must have both multiplication and division mastered/ memorized by the end of 3rd grade.
Every night your child will have reading, math and spelling to do. Please check that they have done their work as some have been coming to school with their assignment books and reading/math logs signed and they did not do their reading or math for the night. A sheet will be sent home nightly for spelling to help your child improve their cursive and to practice writing their spelling words correctly. Often they can say them out loud correctly, but when it comes to putting it on paper they forget or add letters.
