Directions for House map activity You are doing a bird's eye view of your house . You will be making a map of your house to include the four main elements; a compass rose - shows directionality, scale - shows how big something is, key - shows what the symbols mean, title - lets the person know what information the map is showing. When making your map, bear in mind how big each square on your graph paper will be and sketch accordingly. Ex…If your house’s living room is 15 feet long, and you’ve made your scale 1 square = 1 foot, then you’ll have to count 15 squares for your living room, etc. Include in your map all furniture, appliances, cabinets, etc. If you have 2 floors, use 2 pages. Once your sketch is done, go over it in black ink or black gel pen. Use straight edge for lines. Color in with colored pencils. On a piece of lined paper, you will then need to make directions to 10 items in your house without saying what those items are. You can only use cardinal and intermediary directions. You may start at the front door or garage door. Put your answers on a separate piece of paper. Ex. Go 4 feet north, then 5 feet northwest then 3 feet north, where you'll reach your first item...then go 6 feet southeast and you will reach item 2...
