Document date: 5/26/11 IEP Goals Page _22 of 7 ___ Skill Area: Communication-Speech

1. Present Level of Performance: According to the current articulation evaluation (November 2010) Dominic demonstrates delays in speech skills. These delays impact his ability to communicate effectively in the classroom environment, as his verbal responses can be difficult for teachers and students to understand. Previous IEP goals focused on accurate production of /k, g, l, v/. Dominic has made progress toward meeting these goals. Currently he is able to produce initial, medial and final /v/ and /l/ with 80-100% accuracy in words, sentences, and conversation. He still has some difficulty with /k/ and /g/, but can produce these sounds correctly following a model and/or cues to use the back of his tongue. With cues, he produces initial and final /k/ and /g/ with at least 80% accuracy in single words. He produces medial /k/ with 90% accuracy and medial /g/ with 71% accuracy. He needs to continue to work on /k/ and /g/ so that he can produce these sounds independently. Recent therapy probes also indicate that Dominic has difficulty with accurate production of initial /sh/ and /ch/ as he substitutes s/sh and t/ch. His current baseline for accurate production of these sounds in single words is 40%. Participation in a structured speech therapy program will enable him to learn to produce age appropriate speech sounds and become better understood in connected speech. 2. General Education Content Standard(s): Idaho Early Learning eGuidelines: Domain 5 Communication, Language and Literacy Sub-Domain: Communication Goal 49: Children communicate effectively 36 to 60 months: Use communication with purpose to convey a message. 3. Annual Goal (target skill and conditions): When given picture cards, Dominic will independently produce initial, medial and final /k/ and /g/ during a sentence formulation task.

4. Evaluation Procedure (criteria, procedure, and schedule): With 80% accuracy as measured by data collection weekly.

5. Assistive Technology (if needed): No AT required at this time. Enter report card dates in the 1st line below. 6. How and When Progress Toward Goals Is Reported: Electronic copies of the data collection graphs sent home via email every 4 weeks with a written explanation of progress or slippage. Quarterly written progress reports will be included with Dominic’s report cards.
