XXXXXX PRESIDENT JOB DESCRIPTION

OVERVIEW

The President is the Chief Elected Officer of the (XXXXXX) and presides at all XXXXXX meetings. Immediately after the XX-year term, the President-Elect/Vice-President becomes President. After that XX-year term, the President becomes Immediate Past President. The President is responsible for protecting XXXXXX interests and the rights of all members. The President leads XXXXXX in achieving its goals. The President must know and understand XXXXXX’s core values, strategic plans, bylaws, and policies and procedures.

RESPONSIBILITIES

 The President is XXXXXX’s representative at all association meetings.  The President informs the Board of any concerns or other matters that affect XXXXXX’s mission.  The President chairs the Executive Committee and calls Executive Committee meetings as needed.  The President chairs the Board of Directors and calls Board of Directors meetings as needed.  The President appoints or nominates committee chairs, committee members, subcommittee chairs, subcommittee members, and task forces as needed. The President may consult with committee chairs and staff in nominating committee members. Review governance documents.  The President, in collaboration with the Executive Director/Chief Executive Officer (CEO) (as appropriate), provides overall leadership and general supervision of XXXXXX affairs.  The President is the liaison between the Board and the CEO (as appropriate).  The President and CEO (as appropriate) develop agendas for Board meetings.  The President maintains open communication and cooperation with the XXXXXX Board of Directors.  The President ensures that all provisions of XXXXXX’s governing documents are observed.  The President, and his/her delegate, acts as XXXXXX’s spokesperson to the media, legislature and regulatory bodies.  The President can approve emergency expenditures.
