2017 Galena Junior Spring Carnival Schedule

***Concessions by Galena Swim Team available inside the Hall ***

Saturday, March 18

1 pm Kids Individual Ski Races:

3 and under ski race (50 yards straight line) 4 - 5 year old ski race (1 small “red” loop ) 6 - 7 year old ski race (1 medium “yellow” loop) 8 – 9 year old ski race (1 big “blue” loop) 9-11 year old ski race (distance determined by Coach Korta) 12-14 year old ski race (distance determined by Coach Korta) 15-18 year old ski race (distance determined by Coach Korta)

Prizes sponsored by Louden Tribal Council and the Galena Education Association (meal vouchers for all participants , medals for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd )

2 pm NEW - Kids Ski Relays

Teams of three go around the “blue loop”. Each team must include at least one member under the age of 9.

2:30 pm Capri Sun and Toy Scramble (using donations from Iditarod)

Sunday, March 19

1 pm Kid’s Dog Race (2 or 3 dog teams; mushers must between 8 and 18 years old and have permission from the dog owner before the day of the race; 1 mile loop)

Prizes sponsored by Louden Tribal Council and the Galena Education Association 2 pm Kids’ Snowshoe Races 3 year olds and under (50 yards) 4-5 year olds (1 small “red” loop) 6-7 year olds (1 medium “yellow” loop) 7-8 year olds (1 large “blue” loop) 9-11 year olds (1 large ”blue” loop) 12-14 year olds (1 large loop + 1 medium loop) 15-18 year olds (2 large loops)

3 pm 1 Dog Race (about 100 yards, straight shot) 4 and under 5 and 6 year olds 7 and 8 year olds

4 pm Family Snowshoe Relay (fun-only event, no prizes)

4:30 p.m. Kitty Kat Snowmachine Races -Class 1= 120 cc engines and smaller -Class 2=121 – 220 cc engines

5 pm Awards Bonfire (bring ingredients for s’mores or hot dog roast)

NOTE: If there are cold temperatures (below -10) and/or high winds on either day, we will reschedule for a weekday after school during the week of March 20-23.

***The Galena Sports Authority is sponsoring adult snowshoe races on Saturday, March 18 starting at 10 am at Alexander Lake. There will be an Open 5 mile race, and a women’s 3 mile race. ***
