Be Trained to Facilitate Adventure Education and Service-Learning Experiences

IMPACT is a youth development model that aims to empower youth to grow in character and live an active life of faith now, in their current communities. The IMPACT model is a Christ and Gospel centered model that utilizes adventure education, service-learning, and biblical moral narrative as “tools” for sparking change and growth in the lives of youth, where students learn and grow through an active cycle of action and reflection. Originating in Romania, IMPACT is run by the Coldwater Foundation and the Franken Leadership Institute, contextualized for youth and leadership development here in North America.

IMPACT Staff: Staff will be responsible for facilitating an IMPACT group each week with one of our partner churches, playing a vital role both leading the club and investing in the lives of local youth. Staff will function as a team in the planning and running of each meeting, as well as participating in other IMPACT events outside the normal meeting schedule. Since the students will grow through learning, Staff are expected to come first as learners, and then as leaders.

Staff will:  Be trained to facilitate adventure education and service-learning experiences  Lead an IMPACT group beginning in September  Develop leadership skills that will be transferable to all future leadership opportunities  Be part of a core team that is exploring an active approach to youth ministry  Invest in local youth and empower them to use their gifts to meet the needs of their community

Expectations:  In the Fall, all Staff will attend a weekend training retreat where we will focus on growing as a group and be introduced to adventure education and service- learning—the pedagogies used during IMPACT  Following training, staff will meet once a week as a time for fellowship, continued training, and planning for weekly IMPACT meetings  Staff will plan and lead weekly IMPACT meetings  As a team, staff will work to continually advertise and update the community in regards to IMPACT opportunities
