Royal National Institute for the Deaf (RNID) : International Research Grant 020 7296 8000 Aims : RNID aims to support world-class biomedical and technical research that will benefit people who are deaf, hard of hearing or who have tinnitus. Funding : Grants are up to £50,000 per year. This level of funding may be exceeded for exceptional projects. Amount : > £100K Closing Date : 04 April 2011 Duration : 1 year - 3 years Royal National Institute for the Deaf (RNID) : Summer Studentship 020 7296 8000 Aims : To introduce the best undergraduate students to hearing, deafness and tinnitus research in the UK. Deafness Research UK : Vacation Scholarships 020 7833 1733 Aims : To provide promising undergraduates with "hands-on" experience of hearing research during their summer vacation in the hope of encouraging them to consider a career in the field. Tenovus Scotland : Small Research Grants 01292 443387 Aims : To foster high quality research within the health care professions in Scotland. Funding : Funding available up to £10,000. Support is mainly provided for the purchase of equipment for research and/or running costs although, from time to time when funds are available, applications may be invited for salary support or for research studentships. Fulbright Commission : Fulbright - Deafness Research UK Award 020 7498 4010 Aims : To allow an academic to pursue laboratory based research into prevention, diagnosis or treatment of all forms of hearing impairment at any accredited US higher education institution. Funding : The award is for the US dollar equivalent of £75,000 (converted using the prevailing rate), paid in instalments directly to the grantee, the first of which is typically given just prior to departure from the UK. This funding is intended as a contribution towards any institutional fees, travel to/from the US, and general maintenance costs whilst in the US.
