PART-1 GENERAL 1.1 DESCRIPTION A. Phenolic compartment work includes the following. 1. Floor anchored partitions. B. Furnish all labor and materials necessary for the completion of work in this section as shown on the contract drawings and specified herein. C. Work in this section shall include but not limited to: 1. Toilet compartments 2. Hardware for toilet compartments 3. Shop drawings 4. Manufacturer’s warranty D. Related work specified elsewhere shall be included accessories and anchorage/blocking for attachment of compartments. 1.02 PRODUCTS A. Submittal of shop drawings and details, for architects’ approval. B. Colors shall be selected from manufacturers standard color selector. C. Color and hardware samples shall be submitted for approval upon architects’ request. PART-2 PRODUCTS 2.01 MANUFACTURER A. Toilet compartments shall be supplied by American Sanitary Partition Corporation only. 2.02 MATERIALS A. Pilasters and doors shall be constructed of 3/4” solid Phenolic core decorative plastic laminate with multiple resin-impregnated kraft paper and surface sheets fused at high temperature and pressure. B. Panels shall be constructed of 1/2” solid Phenolic core decorative plastic laminate with multiple resin-impregnated kraft paper and surface sheets fused at high temperature and pressure. 2.03 CONSTRUCTION A. Doors shall be cut from 3/4” sheet of solid Phenolic core, with edges being finished and polished to a black core. B. Panels shall be cut from 1/2” sheet of solid Phenolic core, with edges being finished and polished to a black core. C. Pilasters shall be cut from 3/4” sheet of solid Phenolic core, with edges being finished and polished to a black core. Pilasters shall be secured to floors by mounting system comprised of a 3/8” x 3/4” steel bar attached to the pilaster by ASPC, mounted to floors with 3/8” studs into solid concrete. 2.04 HARDWARE A. All hardware shall be our standard stainless steel diecast hinges and stamped stainless steel brackets. 1. Door hardware shall include a heavy-duty “vault” hinge set. Featuring a heavy steel pin operating in “Zytel” nylon cams permitting adjustment to any desired angle of the door when not latched. Hardware also provided for doors shall be a surface-mounted slide latch, in/outswing keeper, bumper and coat hook. All door hardware shall be through-bolted, with one-way theft-proof fasteners, except coat hooks. 2. Pilasters and panels shall be mounted to walls with no less than two (2) stirrup brackets. Wall brackets shall be anchored into blocking in walls. 3. Panels will be mounted to pilasters using a continuous 1/2” X 58” “U” channel. 4. Pilaster shoes will be no less than 3” high, to cover all floor mounting hardware, and be constructed of #304 stainless steel with a #4 finish. 5. All mounting hardware shall be cast stainless steel. All material is to be through-bolted with stainless steel tamper- resistant fasteners. B. Institutional brackets and hinges in stainless steel are available upon request. PART-3 EXECUTION 3.01 PREPARTION A. Examine location to receive toilet partitions for correct height and spacing of anchorage/blocking and plumbing fixtures that may affect installation of units. Report any discrepancies to the architect. B. Take complete and accurate measurements areas to receive partitions. C. Start of work constitutes acceptance of job. 3.02 INSTALLATION A. Install partitions in a secure, straight, plumb, and level manner as shown on the shop drawings and manufacturers’ installation instructions. B. All doors and panels shall be mounted 12” above finished floor unless noted otherwise. C. Clearance at vertical edges of door shall be uniform top to bottom. D. No evidence of cutting or drilling shall be visible on the finished work. E. Finished surfaces shall be after cleaned after installation and be left free of all imperfections. 3.03 WARRANTY A. American Sanitary Partition Corp. backs its solid Phenolic core products, properly maintained, against any delamination, discoloration, breakage, warping or corrosion for 1 year from date of receipt by the customer. If materials are found to be defective within this time period for previous listed reasons, the material shall be replaced free of charge. No credits or back charges shall be issued to ASPC for any labor or expenses related to the replacement of materials covered under warranty. All such expenses are to be held responsible by the buyer.
