1 OPPORTUNITY FOR FURTHER ACTIVITY  Students work on their own short story which features an animal as the main character. This could be an ongoing task with scaffolded classroom activities to assist in the development of a narrative and characters.

 Students could consider which character from Cosmo the Boat Cat is most like them and write a short story describing this likeness. Provide the example of when Cosmo is uneasy about moving to a houseboat, and ask students whether they have ever felt sad about moving house or moving school.
