He was an early opponent of the Skagit nuclear power plant. In 2004, Hue Beattie received the Washington State Warren G. Magnuson Democrat of the Year Award. Candidate Statement Steve Van Luven and his family are rooted in the 40th District. An experienced legislator and a good listener, Steve will turn words into actions for all our citizens. Due to Steve’s business and legislative background, Economic Development (which includes jobs, workers, business community, the environment and transportation) would be a priority.
