SUMMER 2012
Dear Lumberjack Band Member,
Welcome to the 2012 Lumberjack Marching Band; we’re glad you’ve chosen to become a member of the LMB family. Thanks for enrolling online: if you haven’t taken care of enrollment, go to www.lumberjackband.sfasu.edu and fill out the online enrollment. While this doesn’t register you for the class with the University, it gets you into our database, so we can contact you with pertinent information. It’s going to be an exciting year and we’re glad you’ve chosen to be a part of “The Boldest Sound From the Oldest Town!” In order to comply with copyright laws, we’re posting the music on Desire to Learn (D2L), SFA’s class management website. The music will be posted by August 1st. Here’s how to download your music:
1. You must be registered for MUP 136.001 or MUP 336.001 in order to access D2L! If you are not registered for the class, please do so immediately. 2. Go to D2L.sfasu.edu. 3. After logging in, go to the class list and click on MUP 136.001 or MUP 336.001. Click on the appropriate folder for your instrument and download the music. You can save it on your desktop and print it from there. It will be updated frequently, so check back for new music often! Music will be posted beginning Friday, August 1st. 4. The music is in .pdf format, so you’ll need some sort of reader to access it. You can download Adobe Acrobat Reader FREE at www.adobe.com if you don’t have it already. Most computers come with a reader pre-loaded. 5. If you have not auditioned, you can do so on the first Monday of band camp; please check the summer band schedule for audition information. In addition, these will be part auditions for the following instruments: Clarinet, Trumpet, Mellophone, and Trombone. NOTE: If you are an incoming freshman/transfer student AND have auditioned prior to August 23rd, these auditions are for parts ONLY. Drumline, T-O-J and Color Guard auditions will happen during their respective summer pre-camps. This audition exists to be as inclusive as possible and to make sure that the LMB is the best fit for all who express interest in being a member. Thanks for your understanding. 6. If you have any problems and would like us to mail you a hard copy of the music, please call the band office at (936) 468-4702.
Other important documents will be posted on the LMB website (www.lumberjackband.sfasu.edu). Included with these documents:
PERFORMANCE/TRAVEL SCHEDULE FOR THE FALL
LMB REQUIRED AND OPTIONAL EXPENSES LIST
SUMMER BAND CAMP SCHEDULE Please read the summer band camp schedule very carefully as it contains information regarding meals: some are provided by the LMB and some are on your own. While breakfast is not included on the list, it’s critical that you eat in the morning to sustain yourself through the morning rehearsals. WIND ENSEMBLE AUDITION INFORMATION All audition information for the concert bands can be found at http://www.music.sfasu.edu/divisions.php?link=bandauditions. Music can be printed off and audition dates/times are listed.
