The Following Issues Were Resolved Informally

October 2014 Grievance Report The following issues were resolved informally:

Old Business: Salary Placement for new Hires: New hires were given contracts at levels not commensurate with their experience. HR made corrections and sent them to the board for re-approval. Members with outstanding certification of service from other districts may have payroll adjusted (up or down).  Grievance chairs are working with HR to make corrections for a couple of members whose pay is still incorrect due to “paperwork SNAFUs”

Benefits information miscommunicated: Benefits administrator told a member he would be unable to have his wife covered on his insurance due to bargaining circumstances.  Benefits chair and Grievance chairs are working with Susan Walker, April Oliver, and Amy Twarek to resolve MANY issues related to misinformation that have resulted in denial of insurance, etc.

Member had not been paid for 2 pay periods due to being inadvertently marked “inactive” in the payroll database. Hard check was cut and member made whole.

Member at PCMS was not getting a plan bell. This was resolved.

Member had incorrect pay from July 20-Sept 5th. HR made the correction to treasurer.

Member was disciplined due to an oversight on her application. Be sure to verify that information provided to the district is 100% correct. Check and double check!

These issues were under investigation last month:  Quarter days for sick/personal leave MAY BE TAKEN IN .25 increments  Granting of FML in a uniform way ONGOING INVESTIGATION  Evaluation Ratings for Accomplished/Skilled who are exempt We have not gotten an answer on the MANY questions raised on “exempt” or “waived” members

Current Issues:  PHS teachers have never had their equipment moved from the old building and have been unable to perform their job.  Member had pay reduced from one paycheck to another without notice. It is being investigated through HR and grievance chairs.  KIOSK info was not transferred into ERC (personal days put in for religious holidays)  Payroll took out up to 3x the city tax required. It was a computer programming error and will be fixed on future payroll.  Member received improper pay in September due to the lack of proper database info in HR from salary schedules prior to the freeze.  Member has still not been paid for extended time completed in the summer.

Respectfully submitted,

Amanda Setters Gretchen Tash PACE Grievance Co-Chairs
