New Medication Policy

New Medication Policy:

We have important information to share with you regarding your child’s medications for the upcoming school year.

Per Federal law, prescription medications cannot be mailed directly from you to Westover School via Fedex, UPS, USPS or any other common carrier. They must be mailed or delivered from a pharmacy.

These options are available:

1. Your physician can electronically prescribe any medication directly to our local pharmacy, Health Complex Pharmacy in Watertown, CT. Please have your physician send the electronic prescriptions as soon as possible. Their contact information is:

Health Complex Pharmacy 55 DeForest St. Watertown, CT 06795 (860)274-8816 OR

2. You can mail the original, paper, hard copy prescriptions directly to The Westover Health Center, and we will take care of getting them to the pharmacy, and filled. The pharmacy delivers daily to the health center. Please send the prescriptions as soon as possible to:

Westover School, Attn:Health Center 1237 Whittemore Rd. Middlebury, CT 06762 (203)577-4551 OR

3. You can use a mail order pharmacy of your choice and have the medications mailed directly to the Health Center.

Westover School, Attn: Health Center 1237 Whittemore Rd. Middlebury, CT 06762 (203)577-4551

Please make sure to complete the pharmacy requirement in Magnus Health so that billing and information can be efficiently handled.

You will need to make arrangements with your physician for a home supply of medications for weekends/vacations away from Westover. Once again, Federal law prohibits Westover from dispensing more than a 24-hour supply of medications to a student for a travel day.

Similar to prescription medications, over-the-counter medications should not be sent directly from you to the school via Fedex, UPS, USPS or any other common carrier. If your child requires regular use of any over-the-counter medications, please let us know so that the Health Center can make appropriate arrangements.

Vitamins and supplements CAN be mailed directly to the Health Center.

At the end of the school year, parents and guardians are required to pick up any remaining medications. Any medications not picked up within 3 business days of the last day of school will be destroyed.

No medications will be mailed or shipped from Westover at any time.

New Policy Regarding Calling in ill:

When your student is ill or injured, and will be staying home to recover, please call the Health Center at 203-577-4551 at the start of the academic day. The Health Center will then add your child to the Absentee list as ill at home. When your student has recovered, and is ready to return to school, they must come to the Health Center before going to class to be assessed.

If you have any questions or concerns please call or email the Health Center directly at 203-577-4551, or [email protected].

We look forward to a wonderful, healthy 2016-2017 school year!

The Westover School Health Center 1237 Whittemore Rd. Middlebury, CT 06762 203-577-4551
