MIRACOSTA COLLEGE
CLASS TITLE: QUICK-COPY OPERATOR II
BASIC FUNCTION: Under the direction of the Director of Purchasing and Material Management, provide in-house copying and printing services, operating high-speed reprographics equipment including commercial grade photocopiers and related equipment such as collating, folding, sorting, cutting, punching, drilling, stapling, binding and shrink wrap machines. Receive, evaluate, process, package and ensure timely delivery of incoming print and copy work from District faculty and staff at all four campus locations.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
1. Determine priorities and schedule work in accordance with established turnaround times. (E)
2. Review, prepare, duplicate, package and distribute a variety of instructional and administrative materials of various sizes and complexity on a high-speed photocopy machine. (E)
3. Operate a variety of complex mechanical equipment used to collate, fold, insert, sort, cut, punch, drill, staple, bind and shrink wrap all reprographics orders as needed. (E)
4. Maintain records of work performed and materials used; prepare periodic statistical reports, including cost tracking, budget monitoring, volume tracking, inventory control, maintenance reports, supply inventory, machine repairs, and related service reports.
5. Perform minor maintenance, adjustments and servicing to machines and equipment as needed; request/order outside maintenance and servicing to machines and equipment when appropriate.
6. Maintain appropriate stock of paper and various supplies for copiers and other reprographics equipment. (E)
7. Ensure incoming jobs are processed in a timely manner, evaluated for proper content and format, making necessary communications with end users as needed. Ensure outgoing jobs are accurately labeled and addressed, packaged securely for privacy and test security purposes, and delivered in a timely manner to end users. (E)
8. Perform related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES: KNOWLEDGE OF: Proper methods, materials, tools and equipment used in the set-up, operation, maintenance and repair of photocopiers, bindery, printing and related equipment. Basic knowledge of copying/printing practices, paper stocks and supplies. Health and safety regulations.

Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy. Modern office practices, procedures and equipment. Basic recordkeeping and reporting techniques. Applicable copyright rules and regulations.
ABILITY TO: Receive requests for reprographic work and determine the most appropriate and efficient way to perform the work, either through contract vendor or retaining for in-house reproduction on the photocopy machine. Plan, organize and prioritize duplicating services to assure maximum efficiency and quality products in a timely manner. Perform skilled set-up, operation and maintenance of high-speed photocopy machine and related reprographics equipment. Maintain routine records and prepare reports. Maintain appropriate inventory of paper stock and other materials and supplies. Develop and implement improved procedures and process to maximize operational efficiency. Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others. Add, subtract, multiply and divide quickly and accurately. Lift objects weighing up to 60 pounds. Meet schedules and timelines. Maintain confidentiality of information and security of printed materials throughout the processing and delivery cycle. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Graduation from high school or the equivalent and one year general work experience.
LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: California Drivers’ License
WORK DIRECTION, LEAD AND SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Not applicable.

PHYSICAL EFFORT: Primarily sedentary with intermittent standing, walking, bending and stooping; occasional lifting and carrying of objects weighing 60 pounds or less; ability to work at computer, including repetitive use of computer keyboard, mouse or other control devices; ability to travel to a variety of locations on and off campus as needed to conduct district business.
EMOTIONAL EFFORT: Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships involving interactions and communications personally, by phone and in writing with a variety of individuals and/or groups of individuals from diverse backgrounds on a regular, on-going basis; ability to concentrate on detailed tasks for extended periods of time and/or intermittently while

WORKING CONDITIONS: Primarily works in an indoor workshop environment. Subject to frequent interruptions by individuals in person or by telephone, exposure to chemicals, solvents, dust, dirt, heat, cold, fumes, moisture, noise, etc. and the required use of personal protection equipment. Intermittent exposure to individuals acting in a disagreeable fashion. May work at any district location or authorized facility during day and/or evening hours with occasional evenings, and/or weekends on an as-needed basis. Occasional local travel may be requested.
