3. Approval of the Minutes of Last PAC Meeting

4. Principal’s Report – Marlene Funk

Current Numbers have stabilized at 348  We had to add two blocks of humanities courses for our Grade 11/12 students. One course is being written now for presentation to the Board called Film History with a focus on film reflecting social issues as well as impacting social issues. The course will be an extension of our visual arts program, in particular, Digital Media Arts and Photography. It will run in 2nd semester  Have accepted two international students for February 2014.

Budget  Still in process, waiting on a couple of corrections and on a piece of clarification

NEW:  Grease is in full rehearsal run: 3 rehearsals a week  Seven staff are involved so far, working directly with students  Had a parent meeting last night about ways in which parents can help  Will come to PAC for an AIR for Music for the show

School Events  Photo Retake Day October 22nd  3 clubs: Outdoor Club, Cross Country Club and Swim Club  Middle School Grade Groups have implemented a grade-group integrated arts time period which both classes join together: Lots of project based learning and collaborative work

6. DPAC Meeting – Darwin Handford/Sherri Anderson

7. Fundraising Coordinator’s Report

a. Little Coupon Book – due October 31. Last year sold 274, have sold 170 as of today.

b. QSP Magazine – Went home Tuesday September 24, due October 24. Last year sold $3500, far from our goal this year.

c. Purdy’s – Will go out October 17, will go home early December, also a Purdy’s Easter.

d. Scrapbooking Event in November and April – 30-40 tables. $45.00/ticket. Dinner included.

e. Scholastic Book Fair

8. Old Business

a. November 23 – Crop event. Donations accepted for prizes.

a.i. Fundraising Ideas

a.i.1. Poker Night $3000 (Marlene to check with district)

a.i.2. Burger and Beverage $3000 a.i.3. Heat Game $2000-$4000, Heat gets ½ of ticket price. One in December, one in January

a.i.4. Student led sales – poinsettias – whole school involvement. Money would go to LA Trip. Motion by SA, Seconded by M-L R

a.i.5. Gift Card sales – Progressive Shopping – option that might be dropped

a.ii. Music funding application:

a.ii.1. As per attached sheet. Information.

a.ii.2. Shelving, instruments and bass amp can come from gaming.

a.ii.2.a. Purchase of the instruments and bass amp. Moved by JG, seconded by DG. Passed.

b. Internet Safety Presentation – Lianna True

b.i. Darren Laur – request to have him come present at ASIA for students and parents. Fee is $1700. ASIA will pay for half, request that PAC cover the remainder. Moved by LT 2nd DG

c. Scholarships – we will continue this again this year. JG moved, SA seconded, passed.
