Promotional Communications

Promotional Communications

Objective: Create a promotional communications piece using Adobe Photoshop. This piece can be a print advertisement for a magazine or newspaper; a billboard; an in-store point-of- purchase promotional piece; a package label; a trade show poster; a free-standing insert (FSI); a set of internet banner ads; or anything else you may choose to create to market your group’s new product or service. Your objective is to effectively use both the visual and verbal components of the piece to communicate with and subsequently persuade your customers to purchase your product or service.

Note: While you are creating something about your group’s new product or service, this is an INDIVIDUAL assignment.

Requirements: 1. The type of promotional piece you choose to develop should be appropriate for your product’s or service’s distribution and target market. 2. The final piece should be a composite of many images. Three to five images should give you plenty of room for experimentation. If you need help finding images, the links listed below should help you.

3. The images should be created on various layers. Don’t flatten the layers before turning in the assignment. You will submit a color printout as well as an electronic file of this assignment. 4. There should be some text on and/or around some of the images. 5. Pay particular attention to the Principles of Design, as you will be graded on the strength of your composition in terms of balance, proportion, sequence, unity, and emphasis. 6. Demonstrate the use of an appropriate layout format, as described in the readings. 7. Don’t forget the written component of your communications! Apply the principles of good writing that we have practiced in previous assignments in developing this communications piece. You will be graded on the quality of the writing.
