SKC: Registration-goodie bag with pencil and bookmark, a reading log goes home and registration card is kept at the Library. Prizes awarded at 3, 6 and 9 hours which include Mallards Ticket, Culver’s Coupon, a book, tattoo, Pizza Hut Coupon and tokens that can be collected for bigger prizes. CSP: Registration-a contract for number of pages or minutes read/week Prizes awarded each week with a spin of the prize wheel. Prizes include art supplies, collage making stuff, pads of paper, Upstart prizes or a visit to the bookshelf for a video or book. Name also entered into a drawing for grand prizes that include art supplies, bags of books, bookstore gift certificate and movie tickets. CBR: Registration-pick up a reading log and read 6 books or 60 minutes and get a sticker and a prize each week for four weeks. Prizes include: Dane County Fair Ticket, pad of paper, tattoos, Mallards ticket, Museum ticket, Pizza Hut Coupon, Schuster’s ticket, show tickets and a prize from the prize box. MCM: Registration-pick up a reading log and read 15 minutes per day and each week a prize is awarded. Prizes include a plastic book bag, stickers, door hanger, tattoo, DQ cone coupon, pencil, ribbon bookmark, fair pass, Pizza Hut coupon. They also get a weekly raffle ticket for a grand prize drawing at the end which include donations from the business community of books, gift certificates, music lessons, and video rentals. Teen prizes are awarded at 10 hours of reading-Pizza Hut coupon and 20 hours of reading-a paperback book along with a raffle ticket for every 2 hours of reading. LDI: Registration-complete a form that is kept at the library and an envelope with a Reading Log, a bookmark, and a Library Bingo Card goes home. There are two reading levels of 10 books or 3 hours and then a prize package is awarded with an ice cream cone coupon, Cousins sub coupon, Milwaukee Public Museum pass, a cookie coupon from a local bakery. The Library Bingo prizes are a choice of candy or a trinket along with a chance to win in the drawing at the end of the summer. Teens enter for prizes for every two hours that they read. Prizes include coupons from area businesses and they can attend the Teen Pizza Party. PORTAGE COUNTY: Registration: Pick up Reading Time Log for Preschoolers and receive a free book after reading 10 hours or 10 books. School age kids set their own goal and receive a free brand new book. Names are also then entered to win additional prizes. WID: Registration-Pick up a Time Log and prizes are given out for every 2 hours of reading. Prizes include Upstart incentives, Culver’s and Pizza Hut. Teens entered a drawing for a $25 gift certificate for every 120 minutes of reading. POR: Registration-Pick up a Read-to-Me folder and earn a prize bag after reading 30 books. “On-my-own” reading earn a prize bag and a free book of choice after 10 hours of reading. Teens read 10 hours and receive a Pizza Hut coupon and book of choice and additional reading earns chances for these prizes: theatre passes, gift card to BookWorld, and food coupons. BRD: Registration: Pick up a reading log. After reading 4 hours a prize is awarded. Each 4 hours of reading earns a prize up to four levels. Then additional reading earns grand prize entries. Teens keep track of pages and earn prizes at these levels: 500, 1000, 1500, and 2000 pages. Additional reading and book reviews earn grand prize entries. BLV: Registration: Children are entered on a Participant’s page and given a reading record. A prize is awarded for each 2 hour reading level up to 6 levels and the prizes include puzzles, pencils, stickers, Mallards, Pizza Hut and Dane County Fair coupons. Additional reading earns entries for a grand prize. Teens use a bingo style reading record and receive a prize drawing entry, Fair coupon and book of choice. Family Registration: Complete their own family log, completed logs are entered for a Barnes & Noble gift certificate and the first 25 get a BLV tote bag. MTH: Registration: Complete a registration sheet that includes signing up for programs. Pick up a game sheet and win earn golden tickets by completing a variety of literacy ideas. Golden tickets are redeemed for fun prizes. REE: Registration: Pick up a reading log. Independent Readers set their own “number of books” goal and Read-to-Me parents are asked to read at least 5 books/week. Kids earn weekly stickers in their reading logs and they record the number of books on the tally sheet in the Children’s Area of the Library. We set a community reading goal of 11,000 books to be read by kids, teen and adults that are involved in the Summer Reading Program. At the end of the seven weeks, kids receive their last sticker and a prize envelope with coupons from local businesses. This year we had 21 business coupons.
