VI. Approval of Minutes None. VII. Old Business None. VIII. New Business Presentations for Mass Communications 1) Request to add a course MACO: Request to add new course MACO 340—Audio in Media. Course will be offered as an elective and taught on rotating basis. Department to get all original documents to Kristina. Department to get CIP code to Kristina. Motion: D. Plaisance moved to accept with inclusion of CIP code. Seconded: K. Breaux. Vote: unanimous approval. 2) Request to revise an academic MACO: Request to add GER to MACO 101. Course is already approved as a GENED course. Remove GER from degree program HIST Elective (300 or above). Department to send entire curriculum template which shows HIST change. Motion: K. Breaux moved to accept. Seconded: B. Thibodeaux. Vote: unanimous approval. 3) Request to add a minor MACO: Request to add Theater minor. Motion: A. Smith-Martin moved to accept. Seconded: K. Breaux. Vote: unanimous approval. 4) Request to change a course MACO: Request to change prerequisite for MACO 317. Remove 271 from prerequisite. A. Smith-Martin recommended removing MACO 251 from prerequisite. Motion: D. Plaisance moved to accept. Seconded: L. Theriot. Vote: unanimous approval. 5) Request to change a course MACO: Request to change prerequisite for MACO 326. Add MACO 230 to prerequisite (required by majors). Motion: A. Smith-Martin moved to accept. Seconded: T. Lefort. Vote: unanimous approval. 6) Request to change a course MACO: Request to change prerequisite for MACO 430. Change prerequisite from C or better in MACO 252, 322, and 330 to C or better in MACO 252, 330 and either 322 or 230. Motion: A. Smith-Martin moved to accept. Seconded: B. Scott. Vote: unanimous approval. 7) Request to change a course MACO: Request to change prerequisite for SPCH 410. Change prerequisite to say “Any performance course from SPCH 200-level or above.” Motion: K. Breaux moved to accept. Seconded: D. Plaisance. Vote: unanimous approval. 8) Request to change a course MACO: Request to change a course description for SPCH 104. Discussion was held—SPCH 104 is an online course and is not the same as SPCH 101. It was originally created for students in offshore programs. Course is being taught for PETSM students. Course would need to be offered to Nicholls Online and other students in traditional Nicholls who strictly take 100% online courses. D. Plaisance suggested students using AdobeConnect to add a live component to the course. The committee revised the wording of the prerequisites. Dr. Stewart approved the committee’s motion to accept the revised proposal but reserves the opportunity to come back to the Committee once he has talked to his faculty about this wording. Motion: K. Breaux moved to accept. Seconded: A. Smith-Martin. Vote: unanimous approval. 9) Request to change a course MACO: Request to change a course description for SPCH 201. Motion: B. Thibodeaux moved to accept. Seconded: E. Davis. Vote: unanimous approval. 10) Request to change a course MACO: Request to change a course description for MACO 302. Motion: D.
