2014 AREDAY VOLUNTEER INFORMATION

WELCOME This year’s venue is located at Hotel Jerome, 330 E. Main Street, Aspen, CO.

On behalf of AREDAY, welcome to the 2014 AREDAY Volunteer Team! We want you to know that AREDAY could not take place without your support and participation, and we are especially appreciative. Our volunteers are often the first face of AREDAY to attendees and speakers. We trust you to be our Ambassadors and to represent the Summit well!

GENERAL INFO  You may volunteer as little as one shift which is four hours. In order to earn a pass to attend the AREDAY activities Volunteers MUST make a commitment to work at least three shifts or approximately twelve hours total. These passes are non-transferable. The Film Fest events are free.  Some volunteer shifts are available prior to the event and they include duties such as: pickup and delivery, setup, assembling participant bags, etc.  You may request a certain position, but final volunteer placement will be based upon qualifications and decided by the Volunteer coordinators. Some positions include: registration table, door monitor, runner, backstage assistant.  Please familiarize yourself with the Agenda and the speaker photos in case you are asked to find a speaker.  During the program, most volunteer communication will be via email and cell phone. A computer with wifi will be located at the registration desk at the Hotel Jerome.  Please respect the personal space of all speakers, attendees and guests.  Please wear a watch & bring your cell phone (on SILENT, please!) to ensure you arrive 15 minutes before each shift for which you are assigned.

DRESS  Business casual dress (remembering that it can be chilly with the air conditioning); button-down shirts, Slacks (no jeans), skirts (no T-shirts), sweaters, etc. Please remember to wear comfy but nice shoes.  There will be a place for volunteers to leave personal items during shifts.

PARKING  The most economical way to drive and park for the event is to purchase a one-day pass for $8 at the Airport kiosk, the parking garage or City Market. This allows you to park in the residential zone of Aspen’s west end all day. If you decide to park in town you may use the City of Aspen parking structure which is on Rio Grande, next to the Aspen Chamber. Cost is a maximum of $15/day ($1.50/hr) or you can purchase a 10-visit pass for $50.  Carpools of two + adults are eligible for free carpool permits for parking in residential for carpool zones. For more info call 970-429-2868 or go online: http://www.aspenpitkin.com/Departments/Transportation/Carpool/  If you ride the bus you don’t need to worry about parking! Call 970-925-8484 or go online at www.rfta.com for a schedule. The Hotel Jerome is an easy walk from Ruby Park main station.  Bicycle racks are available on the bus ($2 fee) so be encouraged to take the bus and bring your bicycle for the event.
