GUIDELINES OF ABU INTERNATIONAL DANCE FESTIVAL

Objective The ABU International Dance Festival is an independent festival which aims at introducing the unique diversities, breakicultural barriers, and sharing the joys that varied communities across the Asia-Pacific region feel while they dance. The objective is to create a “bridge” between young people from different parts of the world, through dance as an international language, which could help in convergences and associations, social and artistic.

Presentation  Each country can offer only two entries- one for Traditional dance(show case) and one for Contemporary dance (competition).  Each presentation can be for a maximum of 8 minutes.  Each choreography, shall have between 2 to 8 participants within the age range of 18-25 years.

Rights  The contemporary choreographic works have to be original. These facts and other copyright works need to be certified by them.  The piece that the team presents in the selection is the same piece that they perform in the finale.

Format  The format on which the recording has to be given : (i) High Resolution HD - MPEG-4 or Mxf, (ii) High Resolution SD - MPEG-4 or Mxf and (iii) Low Resolution (DVD) - 2 mbps AVI/MPEG-4 / MOV. Entries  Entries must be sent to ABU on the following address latest by 31st August, 2016 Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union 2nd Floor, IPPTAR Building Angkasapuri 50614 Kuala Lumpur Malaysia  Once submitted, it is assumed that there is commitment of the Group to attending the festival if selected for the finale.  Each member country has to bear the cost of the team that they will select should it make it to the finals along with its representative Producer. Tips for In-Country Selection  Theme- The participants are free to select a theme of their choice, (as long as it does not hurt the sentiments of any community). The theme should be clearly reflected in the choreography and be stated in the concept note that will come attached with the application.  Thematic content- How the choreography translates the theme that that dancers attempt to portray. The idea should be reflected in the choreographers note.  Choreography- originality of choreographies, observance of duration of 8 minutes, dances set to original music, especially in the case of the contemporary pieces.  Costume and overall Showmanship  Suitability of piece for camera
