Pre-Assessment Score

NAME: UNIT: PRE-ASSESSMENT SCORE:

DIRECTIONS: At the beginning of each unit, all students will be given the opportunity to “test out” of the lectures for that unit. In order to do this, you must meet the following requirements: 1- You must take a pre-assessment multiple choice test and score at or above a 90%. This will also be recorded as your test grade for this unit. 2- You must write a one paragraph project proposal. This project will serve as the class points for this unit and must demonstrate a deep understanding of the content being covered. a- Project Proposal Guidelines: Each unit consists of many different themes and learning goals. You must put together a research project presentation that demonstrates your interest in delving deeper into some aspect of the unit. (ie. INDUSTRIALIZATION UNIT: You can do an in-depth research project about the growth of the labor movement and demonstrate your understanding in a 3 page paper and a powerpoint presentation). b- Your project proposal must show me that you have an understanding of the content and also that you have an interest in doing deeper, more meaningful research. c- If your project proposal does not meet these guidelines, you will not be allowed to opt out of the lectures for this unit and will not complete an alternate assignment. 3- Throughout the unit, you will be given a pass to the Library/FIC during lectures and other class activities to work on your project. I will expect evidence of your work at the end of each class period so that I know you are using your time to complete your research. 4- Your final product, whatever you choose it to be, must be presented to me at the end of the unit. The points awarded to your final project will serve as an alternate assignment for all activities completed in class while you were researching.
