ADMISSIONS ASSISTANT (Payclass 7) STUDENT HOUSING ADMISSIONS & ADVOCACY SERVICES STUDENT HOUSING & RESIDENCE LIFE DEPARTMENT OF STUDENT AFFAIRS

We are looking for a dynamic, motivated, organised and student centered person who will work well within an empowering environment, for appointment as soon as possible.

Student Housing & Residence Life is a cluster of the Department of Student Affairs and primarily offers a living and learning experience to students in residences during the academic period. Student Housing Admissions & Advocacy Services (SHAAS) is responsible for the admission of students into residences and works very closely with faculties and other administrative departments. The SHAAS works under immense pressure processing and mailing applications, queries and the implementation of housing admissions policy during the period July to March. High volumes of students / applicants / parents and others are received and assisted on a daily basis. Pressure and volume of work is variable within the annual cycle with peaks during the start and end of each semester. Annual leave is taken by agreement, mainly during the vacation periods.

Requirements include:

 A Grade 12 certificate  At least 3 years relevant administrative experience  Computer literacy (MS Office especially MS Access and Excel)  Accuracy and attention to detail  Good written and verbal communication skills  Ability to multi task and work well under pressure  Ability to work within a team and independently  Good interpersonal skills  Customer focus

Experience with the Residence Management System (RMS) and People Soft (PS) or any admissions data base systems Experience within a tertiary environment will be advantageous.

Responsibilities include:

 Capturing student admissions data accurately and timeously,  Processing accommodation applications, offers and mailing within housing admissions policy guidelines,  Collaborate with team members on joint areas of responsibility,  Liaising with parents, applicants, students and donors including dealing with queries, correspondence, communicating policy and procedure and such duties as required by the admissions or readmissions processing cycles

The annual remuneration package, including benefits, is negotiable between R157 021 and R184 737.
