JOB TITLE Facility Laborer SALARY RANGE $12.10 – 16.72 per hour

NATURE OF WORK Performs cleaning and upkeep of facilities and grounds owned or operated by Spokane Transit. Position provides excellent customer service to internal and external customers.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES Performs building and grounds maintenance duties including the cleaning, upkeep and minor repair of all Spokane Transit buildings, grounds; facility parking lot, park and ride lots, bus stops and shelters. Assist facilities senior staff in repair and service of equipment and structures.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Training and Experience: Two years of work experience in janitorial, grounds keeping or related custodial work; or experience which clearly demonstrates the applicant’s ability to assume the duties and responsibilities of the position.

License: Must possess a valid driver’s license. Must have and maintain a driving record free of moving violations for the last 3 years. Be able to obtain and maintain the CDL license.

Physical Capability: The physical activity of this position requires the ability to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach , walk, push, pull, lift, grasp & talk. Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently.

SELECTION FACTORS Knowledge of facility and grounds maintenance equipment and techniques. Ability to work rotating shifts. Ability to drive vans, trucks, and snow plows in a safe manner. Operate a 2 way radio. Ability to maintain and safely operate a variety of equipment.

Spokane Transit employees with any of the following criteria in the last twelve months (Sept 2015 to Oct 2016) are excluded from recruitment opportunities. This includes disciplinary action for accidents, customer service complaints, attendance, and late reports or miss-outs.

SELECTION PROCESS After an initial screening of applications for individuals meeting the minimum requirements, the evaluation process may include: a review and assessment of each qualified applicant's knowledge, skill, ability and relevant work history; physical exam, drug screen; and personal interview. Must pass the Facility Laborer’s Test.
