Guide for objecting / responding to planning permits – Planning & Environment Act 1987 To object you should clearly complete the details on this form and lodge it with the Responsible Authority as shown on the Public Notice – Application for Planning Permit. You must state reasons why, and how you would be affected by the granting of a permit. The Council may reject an objection that it considers has been made primarily to secure or maintain a direct or indirect commercial advantage for the objector. If you object the Council must consider the objection unless you withdraw it in writing.

The Council will not decide on the application until after the latest date shown on the notice you received or on the notice in a newspaper or on the site. If you object in writing you will be notified of the Council’s decision. If you object and you are not satisfied with the Council’s decision you may appeal within 21 days of the notice of the decision to the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal. If the Responsible Authority refuses the application, the applicant can also appeal. The provisions are set out on the back of the Refusal.
