A. Mack Warner, president of SWEA, presented this year’s PEPPer (Public Education Partners and Promoters) awards. The award is given to community members who have given their time, skills, and/or resources to help our students in some capacity. The recipients this year are Karen Dunlap, Tim Dunlap, Beth Wisner, Jennifer Matthews, Patricia Trone, Judy Porowski, Judy Feather, Sandi Bankert, Louise Heebner, Terry Gobrecht, Dwight Myers, Bob Rebert, Ken & Rose Kirkpatrick, Beth Doucette, Aida Pichardo, Kim Haney, Robin Trone, Bonnie Schrum, Catherine Reiblich, Beth Barrick, Steve Kulka, Kristina Hernandez, Connie Klunk, David Meanor, Denise Eichhorn.

Mr. Dale Myers recognized this year’s student board representatives, Kelly Raleigh and Jesse Good. Each received a gift of appreciation for their involvement in the school board meetings.

B. Personnel

1. Requests for leave: Amy Beddia, May 20, 2010 to the end of the 2009-10 school year; Stephanie Riley, August 30, 2010 to October 22, 2010.

2. The following were approved for employment:

a. Professional employees: Hillary Hartley, high school learning support teacher; Kayla Koontz, elementary teacher; Katelyn Bowers, Baresville 1st grade teacher; Jeffrey Fuhrman, middle school mathematics teacher.

b. Summer maintenance - environmental center: Ryan Heist and Zane Grindle.

c. Remedial summer school: John Carley, Kristin Frederick, Matthew Sipe, Daniel Koishal, Jacqueline Uhler, Bryan Tayman, Rob Piatt.

d. Support personnel: Sue Myers, head cook, Manheim Elementary.

e. Game help: Shari Spielman.

3. Approved physicians and dentists for 2010-11.

4. Resignations: Ethan Clark, band director, high school, effective at the end of the 2009-10 school year; Theresa Kern, English teacher, high school, effective at the end of the 2009-10 school year; Larry Unger, custodian, Baresville Elementary, effective June 18, 2010.

5. Current vacancies are: band director - high school, art teacher - elementary (part-time), guidance counselor - middle school, learning support teachers - elementary (full-time and part-time), social studies teacher - high school, speech therapist - elementary, health assistant, student aides, assistant kitchen manager - high school (full-time), cashier/food service worker and food service worker - Manheim Elementary (part-time) cashier - Baresville Elementary (part-time), head field hockey coach, head girls basketball coach, day-to-day substitute teachers, substitute food service, substitute custodians, substitute bus drivers.

C. Finance & Support Services Committee: (1) Approved the April 2010 financial reports, including payment of bills, and the treasurer’s reports. (2) Appointed Douglas Fuhrman as Treasurer for the 2010-11 fiscal year. (3) Appointed Jeffrey Mummert as Board Secretary effective July 1, 2009 through June 30, 2013. (4) Approved rates for 2010-11 nonresident tuition students. (5) Awarded bid for one 2011 school bus. (6) Adopted the installment tax payment resolution. (7) Adopted a resolution to appoint Richard Halter as second alternate to the York Tax Collection Committee. (8) Awarded bids for 2010-11 musical instruments. D. Program Committee: Approved revised recommendation regarding expectations for behavior of attendees at athletic contests in the stadium. E. Buildings, Grounds, & Equipment Committee: (1) Approved the Report of Capital Reserve activities for April 2010. (2) Approved the Report of Park Hills Project activities for April 2010. (3) Approved the Report of 2005-A G.O. Bond activities for April 2010. (4) Approved Report of 2009 Capital Project activities for April 2010. (5) Awarded contract for installation of a card access system at West Manheim Elementary School. (6) Approved right-of-way agreement with Penn Township to place part of a new sanitary sewer interceptor line through portions of district property at 50 Spring Garden Avenue. (7) Approved change orders for the Manheim Elementary School project.

F. Student & Community Relations: (1) Approved requests for free use of facilities.

G. Other Matters: (1) Approved tentative adoption of revised Policy #246 - Student Wellness.
