Deadline The deadline for submitting this application form is 15 January for the entire subsequent academic year (the next autumn and/or spring). In the second round (deadline 3 June), you can only apply for any unfilled student places for the spring semester. There is no guaranteed number of student places in the second round. If possible, you should therefore apply before 15 January, irrespective of when you want to study abroad.

Answer You can expect to receive an answer about nomination within four weeks of the application deadline. After the application deadline, the study places are allocated, and you will be informed whether you have been nominated for a student place. Please note that you must also apply for admission to the host university. You will receive further information about this in connection with the nomination.

(2) STUDIES AT AU

Grade point average Overseas student places are largely allocated according to grades. You must calculate your grade by adding all your grades together and dividing by the number of marks. Do not calculate the weighted average. Your grade will be checked when we process your application.

Number of ECTS On the application form, you must state the number of ECTS credits you have earned at the time of application, as well as the expected number of ECTS credits at the time of departure. If you are a Master's degree student, include the number of ECTS credits you earned on your Bachelor's degree programme.

(3) PRIORITERING AF DESTINATION Please state all the overseas destinations you want to apply to through the International Centre. If you apply to several host universities and/or networks, you increase your chances of getting a place. Please state host universities (or networks) in order of priority. If you are applying for a student place in a network (AEN, CREPUQ or MAUI), state the network on the list of priorities and include a list of three prioritized universities in the network.

Study period Please state the study period abroad. Please tick whether you wish to apply for autumn, spring or the full academic year (autumn followed by spring).

Field of study at host university State what you want to study at the host university, for example Law, Political Science, Biology etc. If you want to take subjects which are part of different study programmes at the same university, please write down all the study programmes (e.g. Psychology & Sociology).

(4) PRIOR EXCHANGE Specify whether you have previously been allocated a student place overseas. You should also tick yes if you have previously been allocated a place but subsequently declined it.

(6) DOCUMENT CHECKLIST

Proof of language proficiency Check for each of your priorities which proof of language proficiency is required, especially if it requires a language test. If that is the case you MUST have passed a language test by the time you apply! If you haven’t received the official certificate by the time you apply, please submit a print of the online-/email results. If one of your priorities requires a letter of recommendation from a professor you must submit it before the deadline. Please note that a TOEFL-test is universal, which means that if one of your priorities requires a TOEFL while others require a letter of reference from a professor, you only need to submit your TOEFL certificate.

Pre-approval For your first priority, you must have obtained a pre-approval, which must be attached to your application. It is usually the board of studies, director of studies etc. who will consider your pre-approval (check with your department). It can take up to one month to get the pre-approval. Please note that you only have to include a pre-approval for your first priority.

List of subjects For your first priority we can see the subjects that you wish to follow at the university on your pre-approval. If you have several priorities, we need a list of the subjects you plan to follow at each university. There is no template available for this list. You can make a list in a Word document, stating the title (and identification code, if available) of the subjects. You must choose subjects corresponding to 30 ECTS credits per host university.

Network – AEN, MAUI, CREPUQ If you are applying to the networks AEN or MAUI, you must attach a list in which you have selected and prioritized three universities in the network. Remember that you must also attach lists of the subjects you wish to do at each of the prioritized universities in the net- work. If you are applying to the network CREPUQ, you only need to select one university in the network. If you are granted a place in a network, it will take some time from when you are granted the place until you are informed which of the prioritized universities in the network you have been nominated for.
