The American Association of Blacks in Energy (AABE) is a national professional organization of African Americans in the energy industry. Through its Scholarship Program, AABE seeks to help increase the number of African Americans and other underrepresented minorities* in energy related fields. By doing so, we help our nation address a critical need and a challenge to our future economic vitality in the world market.

* Underrepresented minorities include Hispanic/Latino Americans and American Indians. American Association of Blacks in Energy – Cincinnati Chapter Scholarship Guidelines CANDIDATE ELIGIBILITY LOCAL SCHOLARSHIPS Eligible students are those who  Have at least a "C" high school academic average.  Be a graduating high school senior enrolled in a local private or public school who has applied to one or more accredited colleges/universities.  Demonstrate financial need.  Be a member of one of the underrepresented minority groups (African American, Hispanic/Latino American or Native American).

SCHOLARSHIP SELECTION The Scholarship Committee determines scholarship recipients—known as AABE Scholars. All submitted information will be kept confidential. The recipient(s) will receive notification by mail or other appropriate means of communication.

AWARD AABE will award students in the AABE-Cincinnati Chapter region scholarship(s) that will range from $500 to $1000. The AABE region includes Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky. The awards will be paid upon proof of enrollment in the first semester or term at an accredited college or university. The awards shall be made directly to the students on a one-time basis.

THE APPLICATION PACKAGE Only completed application packages will be considered. An application package is complete when it includes: (1) Complete AABE Local Scholarship Application Form (copies of the form are acceptable), (2) Parent(s)/guardian(s) official verification of income. Provide one of the following: signed 2009 tax return and W-2 or a verified FAFSA form) (3) 350 word essay. (See the Application Form for essay requirements) (4) Official current High school transcript (5) Official proof of ACT or SAT scores (6) GPA scores must be converted and provided on a 4.0 scale (7) Two letters of reference (one academic and one non-academic) (8) A completed and signed checklist
