THE PROCESSIONAL HYMN

For all the saints who from their labours rest, Who Thee by faith before the world confess, Thy name, O Jesus, be forever blest, Alleluia! Alleluia!

Thou wast their Rock, their Fortress, and their Might; Thou, Lord, their Captain in the well-fought fight; Thou, in the darkness drear, their one true Light Alleluia! Alleluia!

Oh, may Thy soldiers, faithful, true and bold, Fight as the saints who nobly fought of old And win with them the victor's crown of gold. Alleluia! Alleluia!

Page | 2 Page | 3 O blest communion, fellowship divine, We feebly struggle, they in glory shine; Yet all are one in Thee, for all are Thine. Alleluia! Alleluia!

And when the strife is fierce, the warfare long, Steals on the ear the distant triumph song, And hearts are brave again, and arms are strong. Alleluia! Alleluia!

The golden evening brightens in the west; Soon, soon, to faithful warriors cometh rest. Sweet is the calm of Paradise the blest. Alleluia! Alleluia!

But, lo, there breaks a yet more glorious day The saints triumphant rise in bright array; The King of Glory passes on His way. Alleluia! Alleluia!

From earth's wide bounds, from ocean's farthest coast, Through gates of pearl streams in the countless host, Singing to Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, Alleluia! Alleluia!

Page | 4 THE CONFESSION All stand Deacon We are surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses. Silence Let us then run our race. Laying aside every weight and bringing our sins to the Lord in penitence and faith. Merciful God, our maker and our judge, we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, and in what we have failed to do: we have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbours as ourselves; we repent, and are sorry for all our sins. Father, forgive us. Strengthen us to love and obey you in newness of life; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

ABSOLUTION Priest Almighty God, who has promised forgiveness to all who turn to him in faith,  pardon you and set you free from all your sins, strengthen you in all goodness and keep you in eternal life, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Amen.

MINISTRY OF THE WORD A reading from the Acts of the Apostles 12: 1-11 About that time King Herod laid violent hands upon some who belonged to the church. He had James, the brother of John, killed with the sword. After he saw that it pleased the Jews, he proceeded to arrest Peter also. (This was during the festival of

Page | 6 Unleavened Bread.) When he had seized him, he put him in prison and handed him over to four squads of soldiers to guard him, intending to bring him out to the people after the Passover. While Peter was kept in prison, the church prayed fervently to God for him. The very night before Herod was going to bring him out, Peter, bound with two chains, was sleeping between two soldiers, while guards in front of the door were keeping watch over the prison. Suddenly an angel of the Lord appeared and a light shone in the cell. He tapped Peter on the side and woke him, saying, ‘Get up quickly.’ And the chains fell off his wrists. The angel said to him, ‘Fasten your belt and put on your sandals.’ He did so. Then he said to him, ‘Wrap your cloak around you and follow me.’ Peter went out and followed him; he did not realize that what was happening with the angel’s help was real; he thought he was seeing a vision. After they had passed the first and the second guard, they came before the iron gate leading into the city. It opened for them of its own accord, and they went outside and walked along a lane, when suddenly the angel left him. Then Peter came to himself and said, ‘Now I am sure that the Lord has sent his angel and rescued me from the hands of Herod and from all that the Jewish people were expecting.’ Hear the word of the Lord. Thanks be to God.

THE EPISTLE

Read by the Sub-Deacon A reading from the Second Letter to Timothy 4: 6-8, 17-18 As for me, I am already being poured out as a libation, and the time of my departure has come. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. From now on there is reserved for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will give to me on that day, and not only to me but also to all who have longed for his appearing. But the Lord stood by me and gave me strength, so that through me the message might be fully proclaimed and all the Gentiles might hear it. So I was rescued from the lion’s mouth. The Lord will rescue me from every evil attack and save me for his heavenly kingdom. To him be the glory for ever and ever. Hear the word of the Lord. Thanks be to God

Page | 8 THE GRADUAL HYMN Please stand I heard the voice of Jesus say, `Come unto me and rest; lay down, O weary one, lay down your head upon my breast.' I came to Jesus as I was, weary and worn and sad; I found in him a resting-place, and he has made me glad. I heard the voice of Jesus say, `Behold, I freely give the living water-, thirsty one, stoop down and drink and live.' I came to Jesus, and I drank of that life-giving stream; my thirst was quenched, my soul revived, and now I live in him. I heard the voice of Jesus say, `I am this dark world's light; look unto me, your mom shall rise, and all your day be bright.' I looked to Jesus, and I found in him my star, my sun; and in that light of life I'll walk till travelling days are done.

GOSPEL ACCLAMATION

The Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to John 21.15-22  Glory to you Lord Jesus Christ. The Gospel is censed from which God’s word is heard When they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, ‘Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?’ He said to him, ‘Yes, Lord; you know that I love you.’ Jesus said to him, ‘Feed my lambs.’ A second time he said to him, ‘Simon son of John, do you love me?’ He said to him, ‘Yes, Lord; you know that I love you.’ Jesus said to him, ‘Tend my sheep.’ He said to him the third time, ‘Simon son of John, do you love me?’ Peter felt hurt because he said to him the third time, ‘Do you love me?’ And he said to him, ‘Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you.’ Jesus said to him, ‘Feed my sheep. Very truly, I tell you, when you were younger, you used to fasten your own belt and to go wherever you wished. But when you grow old, you will stretch out your hands, and someone else will fasten a belt around you and take you where you do not wish to go.’ (He said this to indicate the kind of death by which he would glorify God.) After this he said to him, ‘Follow me.’ Peter turned and saw the disciple whom Jesus loved following them; he was the one who had reclined next to Jesus at the supper and had said, ‘Lord, who is it that is going to betray you?’ When Peter saw him, he said to Jesus, ‘Lord, what about him?’ Jesus said to him, ‘If it is my will that he remain until I come, what is that to you? Follow me!’ This is the Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ.

SERMON The Right Reverend John Bayton AM A short pause for silent reflection is kept

Page | 11 THE CREED All stand Deacon Let us together affirm the faith of the Church: We believe in one God, the Father, the almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one being with the Father; through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven, was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the virgin Mary and became truly human. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is worshipped and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets.

Page | 12 We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.

THE PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE Kneel or sit Deacon Let us pray for the world and for the Church. Intercessor Father, we pray for your holy catholic Church: that we may all be one in Christ. Grant that every member of the Church may truly and humbly serve you: that your Name may be glorified by everyone. We pray for all bishops, priests and deacons, especially Peter our Archbishop and Glenn our regional Bishop: that they may be faithful ministers of your word and sacraments. We pray for all who govern and exercise authority in the nations of the world: that there may be peace and justice among all. Have compassion on those who suffer or are in grief or trouble: that they may be delivered from their distress.

We pray for departed parishioners, clergy and benefactors of St Peter's, and all your servants who have died. Rest eternal, grant to them, O Lord. and let light perpetual shine upon them. We praise you for all your saints who have entered into joy, especially your apostle Peter our patron: may we also share in your heavenly kingdom.

Page | 13 Let us pray for our own needs and those of others. Silence Hear us, Father, through Jesus Christ our Lord, who taught us to pray:

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and for ever. Amen.

THE GREETING OF PEACE All stand Celebrant We are the body of Christ His Spirit is with us. The peace of the Lord be always with you. And also with you.

The peace of God is shared with a hand shake

Page | 14 THE PREPARATION OF THE GIFTS During the preparation of the gifts of bread and wine at the altar, the Offertory Hymn is sung during which a collection is received.

OFFERTORY HYMN Dear Father, Lord of humankind, forgive our foolish ways; reclothe us in our rightful mind: in purer lives thy service find, in deeper reverence, praise. in deeper reverence, praise. In simple trust like theirs who heard, beside the Syrian sea, the gracious calling of the Lord, let us, like them, without a word rise up and follow thee, rise up and follow thee. O Sabbath rest by Galilee! O calm of hills above, where Jesus knelt to share with thee the silence of eternity, interpreted by love, interpreted by love! Drop thy still dews of quietness, till all our strivings cease; take from our souls the strain and stress, and let our ordered lives confess the beauty of thy peace, the beauty of thy peace. Breathe through the heats of our desire thy coolness and thy balm; let sense be dumb, let flesh retire; speak through the earthquake, wind, and fire, O still small voice of calm, O still small voice of calm.

Page | 15 THE PRAYER OVER THE GIFTS Priest Almighty God, receive all we offer you on this feast of St Peter and St Paul. Help us to know our own weakness and to rejoice in your saving power, in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation: through your goodness we have this bread to offer, which earth has given and human hands have made. It will become for us the bread of life. Blessed be God for ever. Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation: through your goodness we have this wine to offer, fruit of the vine and work of human hands. It will become for us the cup of salvation. Blessed be God for ever.

The Altar and Communion elements are censed as the symbol of food for the journey for God’s people.

THE GREAT THANKSGIVING

All stand Deacon The Lord be with you And also with you. Lift up your hearts. We lift them to the Lord. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right to offer thanks and praise.

Celebrant All glory and honour be yours always and everywhere, mighty Creator, ever-living God.

We give you thanks and praise for our Saviour Jesus Christ, who by the power of your Spirit was born of Mary and lived as one of us.

Page | 16 By His death on the cross and rising to new life, he offered the one true sacrifice for sin and obtained an eternal deliverance for his people.

And now we give you thanks because you have called us into the fellowship of the Virgin Mary, the apostles Peter and Paul, and all your saints and set before us the example of their witness and the fruit of your Spirit in their lives.

Therefore with angels and archangels and with all the company of heaven, we proclaim your great and glorious name, for ever praising you and singing:

THE SANCTUS / BENEDICTUS

Sung by The Choir

Sanctus, Sanctus, Sanctus, Holy, holy, holy, Dominus Deus Sabaoth. Lord God of hosts, Pleni sunt coeli et terra gloria heaven and earth are full of thy tua. glory: Hosanna in excelsis. Hosanna in the highest

 Benedictus qui venit  Blessed is he who comes in nomine Domini. in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in excelsis. Hosanna in the highest.

Celebrant Merciful God, we thank you for these gifts of your creation, this bread and wine, and we pray that by your Word and Holy Spirit, we who eat and drink them may be partakers of Christ’s  body and blood.

On the night he was betrayed Jesus took bread; and when he had given you thanks he broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying, ‘Take, eat. This is my body given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.’

Page | 17 After supper, he took the cup, and again giving you thanks he gave it to his disciples saying, ‘Drink from this, all of you. This is my blood of the new covenant shed for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.’ Deacon Let us proclaim the mystery of faith, Christ has died. Christ is risen. Christ will come again. Celebrant Therefore we do as our Saviour has commanded: proclaiming his offering of himself made once for all upon the cross, his mighty resurrection and glorious ascension, and looking for his coming again, we celebrate, with this bread and this cup, his one perfect and sufficient sacrifice for the sins of the whole world.  Renew us by your Holy Spirit, unite us in the body of your Son, and bring us with all your people into the joy of your eternal kingdom; through Jesus Christ our Lord, with whom, and in whom, in the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, we worship you, Father, in songs of never-ending praise: Blessing and honour and glory and power are yours for ever and ever. Amen

THE BREAKING OF THE BREAD Celebrant As this broken bread was once many grains, which have been gathered together and made one bread: so may your Church be gathered from the ends of the earth into your kingdom.

The priest and sanctuary party receive their Communion

INVITATION TO COMMUNION Celebrant The gifts of God for the people of God. Come let us take this holy sacrament of the body and blood of Christ in remembrance that he died for us, and feed on him in our hearts by faith with thanksgiving.

The people receive Holy Communion. As the sacrament is given to communicants they respond Amen.

Word equal to the Most High, our unique hope, eternal day of the earth and of the heavens, we break the silence of the peaceful night; Divine Saviour, cast your eyes upon us; Spread out over us the fire of your mighty grace so that hell itself flees at the sound of your voice. Dispel the slumber of a pining soul which drives it to forget your laws! O Christ, show favor to these faithful people now assembled to praise you. Receive these songs that they offer to your immortal glory, and these full offerings returned to you.

PRAYER AFTER COMMUNION All stand Celebrant Lord God, the source of truth and love, keep us faithful to the apostles’ teaching and fellowship, united in prayer and the breaking of the bread, and one in joy and simplicity of heart. Father, we offer ourselves to you as a living sacrifice through Jesus Christ our Lord. Send us out in the power of your Spirit to live and work to your praise and glory. Amen.

GOD’S BLESSING All stand
