(Attendance – Approximately 69)
Tyler Johnston, Chair, called the meeting to order and welcomed everyone.
Featured Slide Presentation – Admission Department
Committee Reports Employment Affairs –Dana Ohren Campus Sweep will be called Campus Sweep Six because it is the sixth year. Register on-line and enter t-shirt size. Registration will be set up like the Holiday Party. Suggestions can be submitted in the suggestion boxes across campus or on-line. The grant writing workshops are open to all faculty and staff. Personal & Professional Development – no report. Communications – Marsha Endre. Events are listed in the newsletter. Activities & Socials – Chris Davis. Staff will have one team named Dawg Walkers for Relay for Life. Contact Chris if interested in participating. They are selling t-shirts for $10 and having a silent auction to collect money in which all proceeds go to the Relay for Life fund. Faculty Relations – Julie Schrader. They will hand out ‘goodie bags’ in March for faculty who received tenure or promotions. They hope to have ‘Day in the Life of ….’ by next meeting. Nominations & Elections – Patti Collip. They will take nominations from April 1-7 for the 3 open positions.
New Business Ruth Schwer, IR, demonstrated the updated my.butler and discussed improvements and new features. Page layout change

View pay stubs on-line in March and in April employees won’t get paper stubs
Scott Hamm, Admissions, discussed the Fall 2010 admission process They are in the middle of the cycle for Fall 2010 Deposit refund deadline is May 1, so will know more about number of students for fall then
Financial Aid is not in yet
6,600 applications as of today
Less students will be admitted in Pharmacy this fall
62 deposits ahead than this time last year
ACT are up in scores, Top 10 are up, Top 50% are down, down in rank (less high schools are ranking), fewer students are taking the SAT
Number of transfer students applications are up by 21%; 80 down in admittances.
Announcements
Lost and found is in BUPD.
Butler Farm – Tim Carter, Center for Urban Ecology Earth Charter, to have an area at the intramural fields for farming. Purpose: 1. Local food and organic farming, 2. Distribution community supported. Contact [email protected] if interested.
Bev Compton announced the Photoshop and Outlook workshops coming soon.
One new staff member was introduced and welcomed to Butler.
The next Staff Assembly meeting will be on Wednesday, March 17, 2010.
