Teen Court Panel Member Training

Call for Workshop Ideas

The Lincoln County Teen Court Steering Committee plans the Teen Court Panel Member Training each year. The group is always actively seeking those who would be willing to lead a breakout session at this training.

The main objectives of this training include:  Help new member learn about Lincoln County Teen Court Process.  Educate them on aspects around the justice system.  Give youth a better understanding of the issues in our county.  Foster a county wide team spirit around teen court.  Providing an opportunity for members to practice leadership skills.

Each breakout session is usually 50 minutes long but schedules can be altered to fit a workshops need. Separate breakout sessions are usually held throughout the day. The morning sessions are back-to-back, which also enables presenters to utilize both sessions if they wish to have more time for their topic.

The teen court steering committee brainstormed several ideas for sessions that they would like to be included in the conference. Examples session topics may include:  Psychology  Teen Brain  Gender differences  Basic Justice System  A day in the shoes of a Police Officer  Justice system progression o Social worker o Probation & Parole o CAP (Cadet Achievement Program) Kids visit from Lincoln Hills  Drug issues (Prescription drugs, Tobacco, Alcohol, Other drugs)  Drug Abuse  Steps to a career in a Law enforcement field  Sanction Class discussions  Social Norms  Overview of Teen Court / Hearing information (for first year members) The steering committee is open to all of your ideas.
