He began his career as a clinician 28 at the Sumter Center. After demonstrating numerous management 29 skills, he advanced to clinic director, in which capacity he 30 provided direct services and supervision to staff. During his tenure, 31 he has worked in various posts in all four counties served by 32 SanteeWateree Community MHC (Sumter, Lee, Kershaw, and 33 Clarendon); and 34 35 Whereas, in his current capacity as human services coordinator, he 36 provides training to all staff and orientation to all new employees. 37 He is a certified CPR, AAA Driving, and Best Trainer and serves 38 as the center’s health and safety officer, risk management officer, 39 HIPPA and corporate compliance officer, CARF coordinator 40 (accreditation), and state employees representative. He also 41 provided supervision to professional counselors to promote 42 professional growth within his agency; and

[5286] 2 1 2 Whereas, Joe has endeared himself to his coworkers, who 3 especially appreciate his loyalty, trustworthiness, undisturbed 4 presence of mind both in the storm and in daily tasks, and (not 5 least) his dry wit; and 6 7 Whereas, Joe Caputo, in his constant striving for excellence, has 8 always found strong support in his wife, Jan; his children, Kelly 9 Ann Atkinson, Kristina Elizabeth Vise, Kristen Marie Stutts, 10 David McGinley Griswold, Kandice Lynn Norton, and Katie 11 Renee Caputo; and his seven grandchildren; and 12 13 Whereas, Joe Caputo believes strongly in personal involvement 14 with his community, and his convictions have led him to serve that 15 community in several capacities. He is legislative chair for the 16 South Carolina State Employees Association and a member of the 17 Knights of Columbus. A man of faith, Joe is also a member and 18 usher at St. Anne Catholic Church in Sumter; and 19 20 Whereas, during Joe’s wellearned retirement, the House hopes he 21 will find himself indulging often in deer hunting, bird watching, 22 traveling, enlarging his gun collection, and restoring vintage cars, 23 such as the vintage Porsche awaiting his attention; and 24 25 Whereas, to recognize Mr. Caputo for his many years of service to 26 the people of South Carolina, his colleagues will host a retirement 27 celebration in his honor on June 19, 2014; and 28 29 Whereas, the House of Representatives, grateful for the legacy of 30 consistent commitment and excellence Joseph Caputo has 31 bestowed on the Palmetto State, takes great pleasure in wishing 32 him well as he enters retirement and trusts he will find much 33 enjoyment in the more leisurely pace of the days ahead. Now, 34 therefore, 35 36 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives: 37 38 That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, 39 by this resolution, congratulate Sumter’s Joseph Caputo, human 40 services coordinator for the SanteeWateree Community Mental 41 Health Center, upon the occasion of his retirement, commend him 42 for his many years of dedicated service, and wish him much 43 happiness and fulfillment in all his future endeavors.
