Overview of this Unit: In this unit children will learn to plan, save, retrieve, edit and re-save work independently and realise the importance of saving work regularly. They will consider and evaluate how ICT is used in the wider world and use this to plan their work. They will plan, modify and organise information for a given audience. They will make judgements on the most appropriate software/hardware to use for a given purpose. Pupils will recognise the features of good page design and layout. They will plan, create and evaluate multimedia presentations and/or electronic books containing a range of hyperlinks. They will understand the importance of file size and type for a given purpose such as inserting a variety of media elements into their work.
Expectations at the end of this unit: Most pupils will be able to: plan, save, retrieve, edit and re-save work independently. They will be able to consider the use of ICT in the wider world when planning work. They will be able to plan, modify and organize information for a given audience and purpose. They will be able to decide on the most appropriate software and/or hardware to use. They will be able to recognize good page design and layout and will be able to plan, create and evaluate multimedia presentations and/or electronic books containing hyperlinks. They will show some understanding of the importance of file type and size for a specific purpose.
Some pupils will only be able to: plan, save, retrieve, edit and re-save work with assistance. They will need encouragement to consider use of ICT in the wider world when planning work. They will need help to plan, modify and organize information for a given audience and purpose and may need guidance to organize their layout. They may need assistance to create and evaluate multimedia presentations and/or electronic books.
Some pupils will also be able to: plan, save, retrieve, edit and re-save work independently and consider a broad use of ICT in the wider world when planning work. They will be able to plan, modify and organize information for different audiences and purpose and will be able to make choices on the most appropriate software and/or hardware to use. They will be able to recognize and use good page design and layout and plan, create and evaluate multimedia presentations and/or electronic books containing a range of appropriate hyperlinks. They will work well collaboratively and constantly evaluate, re-plan and edit work accordingly. They will understand the importance of file type and size for a specific purpose and can edit images to change file size if required.
