Text: Elementary Algebra: A Prerequisite for Functions By: Abney, Mowers, Calland, and Crowley
We will be covering chapters 1 – 8.
Materials: You will need a graphing calculator (TI – 83) and graph paper.
Homework: At the end of each unit are review problems. I would suggest working on these as time allows in your schedule. They will help you review the material of that unit as well as all prior units. This work is for your benefit and will not be collected.
There will also be a homework project that will be given out each class that is due at the beginning of the next class. These will be part of your grade. Tests: There will be a midterm exam on Saturday, February 1, 2003. This exam will cover Units 1 – 4. The final exam will be on Saturday, March 8, 2003. The final will focus on Units 5 – 8, but algebra is cumulative, so an understanding of all units will be required to perform well on the final.
