Two Year Cadetship Programme

ADMISSION TO 51ST BATCH OF CADETS (SESSION 2013-2014) IN TWO YEAR CADETSHIP PROGRAMME AS NAUTICAL(DECK)/MARINE ENGINEERING CADET LEADING TO AWARD ASSOCIATE DEGREE IN SHIP MANAGEMENT/MARINE ENGINEERING DISCIPLINE BY NED University of Engineering & Technology, Karachi

The applications are invited through advertisement in the national press in June/July every year. The induction is conditional to eligibility, merit, medical fitness and other criteria established by the Government of Pakistan, as detailed below:

Eligibility to Apply: (Only male citizens of Pakistan) i) Qualification: At least 2nd division in H.S.C./equivalent in the following groups:

Pre-Engineering for both Ship Management & Marine Engineering OR Science General(with Maths., Phys. & Computer Science) for Ship Management Branch only OR A-Level (with Physics, Mathematics & Chemistry/Computer Science). Equivalence certificate from Inter Board Committee of Chairman(IBCC) shall have to be submitted. ii)Age: Not more than 20 years on 31st Dec., 2012(Year of application). One(01) year relaxation for candidates from FANA/FATA or Azad Kashmir only. The date of birth is recognized as per S.S.C. or equivalent examination certificate. Affidavit will not be accepted. Any candidate found to be over even by one day shall be rejected and no appeal against it shall be entertained. iii) Entrance Test: A candidate shall have to pass the Entrance Test conducted by National Testing Services(NTS) in English, Maths, Physics & IQ. iv) Medical Fitness: As per standards prescribed by the Ports & Shipping Wing. The candidates will have to undergo Medical Examination at their own expense. In addition passing of Eye Sight and Colour Vision Test conducted at MMD (Mercantile Marine Department) after joining the Academy. Failures of this test will not be eligible for admission in PMA.

Candidates from friendly countries:

Candidates from friendly countries are admitted on Government to Government arrangements, subject to availability of seats.

Submission of Form:  Submit duly filled form by 30th August 2012, at the address given below along with original pay order/bank draft of Rs.2,000/- (Non-refundable) made from any bank in favour of Pakistan Marine Academy, NBP Pak Marine Academy branch (Code-0239) Mauripur, Karachi.

Selection Procedure:

 Last date for submission of Application Forms is 30 TH August, 2012.  Entrance Test by the National Testing Service (NTS) will be held on 30th Sep., 2012 at designated stations.

 Medical examination of short listed candidates will be held in October, 2012 at designated Combined Military Hospitals.

 Final selection will be based on NTS Result and Total Marks obtained in Intermediate/equivalent examination(purely merit)

 20 seats(10 in each discipline) are reserved to be filled under Self Finance Scheme

 Branches(Ship Management/Marine Engineering) will be allocated after joining the Academy on the basis of their merit position, medical fitness, cadets choice and availability of seats Training:  2 Years residential training at Pakistan Marine Academy Karachi, that will commence from 1st week of January, 2013.

Degree & Certificates earned after completion of training:

 Associate degree in Ship Management/Marine Engineering Discipline By NED University of Engineering & Technology, Karachi  Seaman Service Book (SSB) by Government of Pakistan  Certificates of Pre Sea Mandatory/Short Courses by PMA. SUMMARY OF TRAINING CHARGES

Total training charges for two year course amount to Rs. 264,000/-(which will be charged in four installments as mentioned above) Note: 1. In addition to the above the cadets shall have to arrange Rs.12,000/- for purchase of Text Books (once only at the time of joining the Academy). 2. The Nautical Cadets shall have to pay Rs. 9,500/-(approx.) alongwith the 4th Semester Fee for Seamen Service Book.
