My Week in Rainbow Class s1

MY WEEK IN RAINBOW CLASS w/c 17.10.16

Theme: Let’s Celebrate Halloween Next week: Half Term

This week we have made pumpkin soup, recipe included (some children liked it; personally I would add some seasoning!)

This week I have been  Having my daily phonics lesson – blending sounds  Developing the ability to hear the individual sounds in simple words  Identifying the title of a book, distinguishing between letters and words  Reciting and counting to 20  Number recognition. Writing numbers and number sentences  Singing lots of nursery rhymes and songs  Scooping the innards out of pumpkins (some of us). Making pumpkin soup (some of us)  Trying something new ie pumpkin soup (all of us)  Doing handwriting practise (either Writedance or writing my name with cursive letters)  Learning how to use glitter sparingly whilst making a glittery spider’s web  Learning to draw with oil pastels and paint with watercolour whilst drawing a pumpkin  Doing music (with Mrs Andrews)  Doing PE (with Mrs Andrews)

In our own learning time I have been able to choose  Class Library  IWB - simple city  Creative table – painting challenges – a face, a flower, a spider, a pumpkin  Role play – spooky house  Outdoor play - bouncy hoppers  Maths – spider maths; dice colouring game  Clever fingers activities - cotton bud painting  Mark making table – playdough building site  Construction toys  Small world toys  Music area

You can help me by  Letting me scoop out the innards of a pumpkin and then make some pumpkin soup together  Playing a dice board game with me (I should be able to recognise the spot pattern on the dice without counting them)  Providing me with some resources so that I can create a Halloween inspired picture in my scrapbook (eg pens, pencils, paint, glue, glitter, collage materials) Pumpkin Soup

1. Cut up the pumpkin. 2. Cut up the onion. 3. Cook the onion in the butter. 4. Add the pumpkin. 5. Boil water. 6. Crumble stock cube into water. 7. Add stock to the pan. 8. Cook until soft. 9. Blend until smooth.
