General cast rules

1. It is your responsibility to show up at each rehearsal, ready to go. Always bring a. Your binder and/or script (if you weren’t assigned a script, bring a notebook in which to write your notes) b. A pencil for blocking c. An eraser for changed blocking d. Any needed clothing or props e. (Ideally) the shoes you’re going to wear in the show.

2. You must take good care of yourself and your life in order to bring your best to the show. This includes a. Getting enough rest. In fact, you must get at least 7 hours of rest before each performance, including grade school performances. This means you should not party or plan late-night activities before the grade school shows. b. Keeping up with your homework and schoolwork. Remember, being put in Academic Jug can result in your being dropped from the show so you can focus on schoolwork. Also, if you are not passing at least 5 classes at show time, you are not allowed to perform

3. You MUST register on VSM and fill out information including your home address, phone numbers, and an emergency contact by January. a. Post a current photo of yourself. b. In the biography box,  Girls—put your school’s name and year in school.  Boys—add your school ID number (just the 5 digits)  DO NOT PUT ANYTHING ELSE IN THE BIOGRAPHY BOX. c. You MUST list an emergency contact number and person. WE WILL HAVE TO DROP YOU FROM THE PRODUCTION IF YOU DON’T HAVE THIS LISTED. Also fill in phone numbers and address.

4. The rehearsal schedule will be posted on VSM. Check this every morning for changes. Check this at least one other time during the day. A general rehearsal schedule may be posted on edline for St. X boys, but the VSM schedule will be the most up-do-date.  When rehearsals are changed, sometimes they don’t show up in the individual schedules, so always double check your rehearsal times against the ALL ARTISTS schedule.

 If you’re not sure whether or not you need to attend, check with a director.

 NOTE: If you use OUTLOOK, VSM can import your show schedule into OUTLOOK. Just click on SUBSCRIBE TO CALENDAR at the top of the page and follow those instructions. 2 | 1 7 7 6 G e n e r a l c a s t i n f o r m a t i o n

6. Check your email at least TWICE daily (morning and afternoon/evening).

7. You are expected to attend every scheduled rehearsal for your role. a. If you know ahead of time that you must miss a rehearsal,  Enter your conflict on VSM (as soon as possible) AND  Remind Ms. Reisert (by email) the day before ([email protected]).  You must also find someone to fill in for your part (and give that person your blocking).  To enter a conflict on VSM: a..1. Go to SCHEDULING a..2. Find the CREATE CONFLICT tab at the top of the page.

b. If you must miss because of a last minute emergency such as illness--  Email Ms. Reisert at [email protected] BEFORE rehearsal that afternoon  If you can’t email her, phone Ms. Mary Clements at 637-4712 and leave a message to be delivered to Ms. Reisert. c. People who miss an excessive number of times may be dropped from the show, even if your absences are legitimate. d. Missing a rehearsal without notice will probably be grounds for being dropped from the show. e. If you quit the show after the first two weeks—or if you fail to fulfill your part to the best of your ability—in most cases, we will not allow you to participate in another St. X Drama extra-curricular activity for at least a year. If there are special circumstances, talk to a director as soon as possible.

8. Girls should reach St. X as soon as is safely possible for rehearsal—do not speed or hurt anyone in the effort to get to rehearsal. Your safety is more important than a few seconds of start time.

9. Cast and crew members should be in the lobby only when passing through. The lobby is not a socializing area.

10. No eating or drinking in the auditorium, dressing rooms, or lobby. As long as you clean up after yourself, you may eat or drink in the shop.

11. Parking: Park in the side lot by the backstage barn doors (teacher lot). Do NOT park in the semi-circle in the front.

12. Getting picked up after rehearsal: You MUST be picked up in the circle in the back of the school. Do NOT have your ride pick you up in the semi-circle by the entrance to the auditorium.

13. Binder: All cast members need a hard-cover binder with 3 | 1 7 7 6 G e n e r a l c a s t i n f o r m a t i o n

a. Pockets (in which to keep all notes and forms) b. 3-hole prongs c. Your Name and FORUM clearly on cover

14. You are expected to take good care of your costumes and keep the backstage areas and dressing rooms clean.

16. You will be responsible for furnishing your own footwear according to information given by the director (unless told otherwise).

17. Academic Detention (St. X students): If you are put in Academic Detention because of poor grades for more than two weeks during the rehearsal period, you will probably be dropped from the show so you can concentrate on your academics.

18. Parents on VSM: Your parents are welcome to enroll on VSM so they can see your rehearsal calendar. When they sign-up, they should put Parent as their first name. If their last name is different from yours, they should put your name in the bio box.

19. If you would like to purchase a show t-shirt, please fill out a t-shirt form and give it and an accompanying check (made out to St. X) to the Business Office by August 24 at 4 p.m. The shirt will feature the program cover.
