INSTRUCTIONS FOR FILLING OUT/SAVING ELECTRONIC FORMS

All of the NABET-CWA electronic forms have been reworked including the “Grievance Report” and “Pre-Arbitration Form.” They are designed to be filled out on a computer using the Legacy Form Tools that are a feature of Microsoft Word. The forms have been locked to prevent editing. The sole editing exception is that form fields may be filled in. These forms have a lot of metadata so they open slowly; be patient.

Three types of form tools are used on the new forms: 1. Text Boxes which are simply filled in by typing 2. Check Boxes Click on it to make an “X” and click again to undo. 3. Text Fields "Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their country." Click on the field and start typing. As you type the box expands and allows you to see what you have typed. These are used where longer explanations or more information is needed.

The gray shading is intended to help you find the fields. The Text Boxes are not shaded because they have an outline. To navigate from one field to another hit your “Tab” key or use your mouse or touchpad to click on a field.

When you are finished filling in your form you can “Print” and sign. The gray shaded areas will not print. To keep an electronic copy for your records or to e- mail do not hit “Save.” Instead, hit “Save As.” When asked where you want the file saved, direct it to someplace where you can find it like your “Desktop.” You can now close the form. Closing it clears all the form fields resetting the form for its next use. Your saved copy is the one to print from or e-mail. If you forget and accidently hit save on the form you will have to manually clear each field and hit save again to reset the form.

Remember, although the forms are locked and protected, they can still be deleted from your computer.
